Re: XK 4.2 vibration/juddering front brakes
Let me add my experiences to this. About 18 months back when I bought my XK8, the PO had recently changed the front discs. I was plagued by a front wheel wobble which I only solved when I had the front wheels balanced on the car. The tech who did this suggested the front discs may be out of balance....

Re: Servicing Instructions
Hi Mike, thanks for the advice. I do have a copy of the JTIS disc, and I guess my basic question was whether there are any servicing instructions on that system - try as I might I can't find any. I'm not worried about tackling the service work but before I attack any new car I always try to read up ...

Servicing Instructions
OK, this is probably where I'll feel pretty dumb, but.....I have been trying to locate basic instructions for servicing my XK8 4.2 - you know, stuff like oil change, coolant change, brake fluid change, pollen filters, air cleaner...you get the picture. Now I should explain that I'm an experienced me...

Re: Single 20" detroit 9J rim?
Thanks for the pointer. I know of Steve and have dealt with him on some other items recently (valve adapters and centre caps etc) but last time I checked he could only offer a full set of 4 and for obvious reasons didn't want to split a set to sell one wheel. I was wondering if anyone else had one a...

Single 20" detroit 9J rim?
Hi guys,
Anyone out there got a single 9J Detroit they'd be willing to let go of? One needing refurb not objected to but it MUST be straight.
Cheers
John

Dash Lights not working/Light switch stalk fix
I had not noticed this when I bought my XK8 recently but the dash lighting was not working at all. Research on some other XK8 forums on the web and some on-vehicle testing led to a diagnosis of a failure inside the light switch on the left-hand stalk. A very helpful conversation with the experts at ...

Recommendation for Jaguar mechanic in Worcestershire?
Hi guys, Can anyone recommend a good independent Jaguar mechanic in Worcestershire - I'm looking for someone capable of tackling the more complex jobs on my XK8 so would need Jaguar diagnostics etc. Most of the good ones I've seen mentioned are way over north from me in Birmingham or beyond towards ...

Re: leather colour codes?
Alan/Nic
Thanks for your replies.
Nic is right and it was my error in entering the code - the code in my car is indeed NED.
Maybe someone else may be able to decode the KT bit.

Re: leather colour codes?
Hi guys,
My newly-acquired XK8 has ivory trim, the code on the door shut sticker is NEC, but then after NEC there is a space and the letters KT. Can anyone advise what those extra letters mean?
Cheers

Re: Prospective Owner - XK8 or XKR?
Thanks for the comments. I took the plunge this weekend and bought a 2003 XK8 in Adriatic blue, Ivory leather. Very happy so far and there's plenty of power for me, and even with the 20" Detroits it came on the noise levels are OK. Phew!

Prospective Owner - XK8 or XKR?
Hi guys, I'm close to taking the plunge into XK ownership, it will be either an XK8 or XKR 4.2 first generation. Jaguar credentials? Well, I do have a '62 E-type roadster (fine weather car) but have been burning through a bunch of unsatisfactory daily drivers since I sold my BMW M5 (the V8 version) ...
