Re: Loss of all instruments.
Everthing back to normal, having spent some weeks with the passenger airbag and the ECU disconnected. Went to a number of garages with Jaguar signs proudly displayed but not one could diagnose a problem with the airbag system, 'not on a 1996 model, we can interrogate but nothing showing for the airb...

Re: Loss of all instruments.
Hello Naki, no work done at all, reference welding or disturbing anything, but I am making some progress. Calling Jaguar was a waste of good time, especially with this holiday break, so I went into more Forums. Every example of total loss of instruments were started by the airbag red warning light c...

Re: Loss of all instruments.
Thanks for all that RichardSEL, reference the fuses I have only done a visual check, and as you point out I need to make another more in depth check. I have searched the Forums and a chap in Holland has had the same, and his started with the Airbag warning light, bottom right on the panel, then as p...

Loss of all instruments.
1996 X300 Executive. Have lost ALL my instruments and warning lights, that's 6 instruments and 22 warning lights, with the rest of the car working perfectly. Have checked the fuse list, and 2 are mentioned under 'instrument pack', a 5amp and a 10amp in the left side passenger seat area, which on ins...

Re: Heater illumination bulbs
Andy, thanks for all that, the video is clear, once the ski-slope is out of the way, we are in luck, I will wait till the temp rises a bit, and order some bulbs prior. Take care.

Re: Nikasil bore.
Thanks Doug, your engine sounds to be 'spot on', but I am still of the opinion that this simple check should be available, and even the salesman is surprised that he ran into problems when asking the main agents for the check. With aircraft internal combustion engines it's a standard procedure, a co...

Re: Nikasil bore.
Thanks for that 'mike020150', what did the main dealers do with the 'measuring tool', throw it in the waste bin? I have a number of tools that are in my box, never used in years, but not discarded, not thrown away. I still want this figure, I will ask around and find someone with the equipment and t...

Nikasil bore.
Have seen a very nice XK8 on my laptop, sent an e-mail with the required questions and all was well. The chain tensioners had been done and the salesman said he would get me a 'blow-by' check done, as procedure for Nikasil bores. I have now got a reply, with the main Jaguar agents in Preston, Lancas...

Re: No heat from the system.
Thanks PopsJag, got all that information, and did the checks, which came up with a code number 24, which said: Face Vent Demand Potentiometer. Open/Short circuits. Well that means absolutely nothing to me, or my mate Colin at the local garage, so we devised a plan. He got his 'wiggly-amp' machine ou...

No heat from the system.
Today 4 degrees on the gauge, so I wanted some warm air, but only cold. [it all has worked perfectly for years] Under the bonnet, the plumbing is warm all the way to the heater valve, then cold from the valve to the bulkhead. I have assumed it's the heater valve, so I have been to the scrapyard and ...

Near side windows.
Lost front and rear nearside window opening/closing. 1996 X300 Executive. Checked fuse, 30amp, nearside passenger footwell, all OK, and on depressing switches at drivers door, a clicking from the door internals. It is very unusual to lose both windows at the same time, have I missed something folks,...

Re: X300 keys locked in boot.
I think a thief will find easier ways of getting into a boot than taking off number plates and drilling holes, it might just bring attention to the event. It has not been a particular secret, Jaguar gave me information years ago, so wind your neck in, and just hope that you never loose anything, par...

Re: X300 keys locked in boot.
Many thanks to you all, I have my keys. I took heed of all your comments, made a quick call to my Motor Factor store-man, re. some new number plate adhesive pads, and the loan of a cordless drill etc. [due my tool box in the boot] and he said 'just draw a line down from the release button, then mark...

X300 keys locked in boot.
I have done it, locked the keys in the boot. 96 X300. I believe I have to go behind the number plate, drill a hole and then use a bent coat hanger to unlock. Can you confirm folks that the procedure is,as I think it is, the Jaguar garage mentioned it years ago, and I think that was the deal. The gre...
