Re: Upgrade fuel for XK
Thanks Mike, I suppose I am being a little paranoid after having the gearbox Oil and filter filter changed for the second time. I broke the plastic sump on a sleeping policeman before I changed to the new fuel, so I was worried I had damaged the gearbox itself. My people checked the box electronical...

Upgrade fuel for XK
Hi, Does anyone know if top grade fuel can alter the gearchange on a 2006 XK?. It may sound silly, but I have always used 95 octane from my local supermarket in my XK non supercharged model. After reading the article in this months JEC magazine regarding E10 fuel, I decided to fill up with Shell V P...

Re: sleeping policemen!
BEWARE!!!! You are right to be aware of the low ground clearance of the Xk. I had the very expensive gearbox oil and filter changed in 2019. Only 47.000 miles but thought it best after reading the advice on the JEC website. £500 is quite a lot. but I felt essential as we were going to Italy. A few m...

Re: Model identification
Thanks Mike, You really have cleared up my query, and stopped me scratching my head for answers. I have the service history, and will see if i am able to find out when the kit was fitted and by whom. I did wonder if she had been a pre production model, but I was not aware that the kit was available ...

Model identification
Hello Mike/Jim. Just sitting here wondering what to do. My XK is tucked up in its garage and it is too cold to even out. Got me to thinking that you might be able to help me with a query I have . I bought my X150 in September 2017 from a lady in Nottingham. The car was registered in March 2006 and t...

Re: X150 gearbox oil
Well, I have now received the bad news from my specialist. I forgot to mention that I hit the bottom of the XK on a "sleeping policeman" shortly before the leak started. There was no warning that these things were on a very small and twisty back country road, and I was only doing about 20 MPH, Howev...

Re: X150 gearbox oil
Hi, Thanks very much for your advice. I did have the cable entry gland changed at the service, so I don't think it could be that. The oil that has leaked does not have a particular smell that I have noticed, but I will double check that. The oil is seems to be quite thick and not as thin as the engi...

X150 gearbox oil
Hi, I have a 2006 X150 which has an oil leak around the gearbox area. This appeared after hitting an unmarked sleeping policeman. Can anyone tell me if the gearbox oil in this car is red like most, or if it is clear like engine oil. I had the gearbox serviced about 300 miles ago and has been leak fr...

Re: Cylinder head temperature location
Hi all, Thanks again for all your posts. Confused or what!!. I will dig into the engine again to see if the sensor is actually fitted to the housing. I might have to wait for the problem to get worse so that a fault code appears. I love my XK, but sometimes she can be a little difficult. Again many ...

Cylinder head temperature location
Hello, Can someone help me please with the location of the Cylinder head temperature sensor location for my 2006 non supercharged XK. I have looked through my CD workshop manual but I cannot find this item anywhere. I am grateful for the help received from the members so far with this fault, but I a...

Re: Rough start when hot
Hello, Thank you everyone for your advice. I checked the XK today, and the only code showing is P0000. Thanks Mike, I will check all the hoses I can find around the throttle body. Andy, I sent you a private email, which I hope you received. I am not too good on the computer. Perhaps you could let me...

Rough start when hot
Hi, I have a 2006 non supercharged X150 convertible with 46000 miles. Had her about two years now and apart from normal service bits she has been no trouble. Last big trip was to Sorrento in Italy which was fabulous. The problem I have appeared in the very hot weather we have just had. After the car...
