The X300 workshop DVD I bought has wiring diagrams for each model year of X300.

It's a 3.2, and given it has leather and cruise but no B-pillar chrome, I'm guessing it's an Executive?

It's the alternator. The car was fully charged all day Thursday because the battery was dead after 3 weeks standing. Friday morning, it was towed to the garage and the battery was flat again.
