I'm afraid I'll be at Duxford tomorrow instead.

Re: New Toy!
It's a 3.2, and given it has leather and cruise but no B-pillar chrome, I'm guessing it's an Executive?
Love the colour.

Re: Whining noise on startup
I've had a new one put it. I'll try and refurb the old one as well and see how I get on.
Last thing I tried was rebuilding the roller brake on my bike, and it didn't go well. How hard can it be?

Re: Whining noise on startup
It's the alternator. The car was fully charged all day Thursday because the battery was dead after 3 weeks standing. Friday morning, it was towed to the garage and the battery was flat again. The car was run for a few minutes and the alternator was hot and smelly. So, fresh diode pack or new alterna...

Whining noise on startup
I took the Jag out for a quick spin today - first time I've had the chance in about three weeks. The plan was to give it a run, then park it on the drive and swap in the new headlamp units. I notice there's oil in the garage floor, which is odd. Just a few drops, but the old girl never usually leaks...

Headlamps
I've just picked up some complete left hand and right hand headlamp units off ebay. Complete units as in both lenses, mounting brackets and chrome. I won't tell you how much, but lets hope the vendor comes through! Anyway, if anyone wants some headlamps I've got four on my car at the moment that are...

Fuel tank connector block
I've just had my fuel pump changed at 171,000 miles (it's the second replacement the car has had). It was noted that the connector block on the evaporative loss flange (NNA5954AA, http://www.jaguarclassicparts.com/uk/jaguar-xj-x300-parts/air-and-fuel-delivery-systems/fuel-tank/fuel-tank-3-2-4-0-litr...

Re: Eastern & Western days
I'm really confused about this event. I'm booked in but I hear there are model forum stands, and region stands, and general parking. Is there any room left on the X300 forum stand?

Rear shock bushes - square or round?
I'm having the KYB Gaz-a-just shocks at the back of my X300 replaced with Jaguar originals, in an attempt to find the source of a very annoying metallic clunk coming from the rear of the car. Or maybe the front - it's one of those noises. The rear off-side KYB has come out and actually doesn't look ...

Re: Earliest XJ40 V12 ?? Production/launch info
Rob will undoubtedly know the exact number, but here's what JDHT says: http://www.jaguarheritage.com/content/pdf/xj40___x300_chassis_numbers.pdf I can't vouch for these numbers, but they are there or thereabouts compared to Nigel Thorley's book: http://projectxj40.weebly.com/uploads/4/1/6/7/4167953/...

Re: AJ6 / AJ16 Engine Seminar
Right, I'm booked in to the CB Inn for Saturday night. Wasn't brave enough to try some of the less expensive options. I might swing by Brown's Lane on the way to Stoneleigh. It's a matter of some regret that I never found the time to go when I was at Warwick Uni in the early noughties (although the ...

It's about £25 more at the moment. I've probably left it all too late!
