I have just finished installing an IN Phase 601 amp and a Pioneer 8" shallow woofer. The amp fits perfectly on top of the existing cd player using velcro to secure as this also provides an air gap. I used mdf to mount the woofer and then secured the mdf to the parcel shelf using the existing holes. ...

I spoke to Kevin at Design XR and he reckons that to install a sub woofer you need to change the loom. I have bought an amplifier and sub which I intend to fit over the holiday. The amp should fit above the cd player.

Can anybody confirm if the wiring exist in the boot to install a subwoofer on the rear parcel shelf?

I have just checked the upper tensioners on my xk8 May 2003 and they are the 3rd generation tensioners. Obviously only the top could have been done, but there is no mention on the service records. The bonus to this was also the fact that oil was leaking into the spark plug wells. New plugs, cam gask...
