Pulsing Lights.
All the lights, including the panel display and headlights on my 1998 XJ8 are 'pulsing' ie dimming and getting brighter at about once per second frequency. This is evident at tickover and during normal driving. The voltage at the battery is also pulsing at that rate between 13 and 13.4 volts. I can ...

Fuel Consumption Computer
Previous cars I have had with fuel consumption computer have all shown 99.9 mpg when in top gear, on the overrun, down hill. Under the same conditions my X308 instantaneous fuel consumption computer shows values constantly fluctuating wildly between the 'teens' and '80s'. I think I read some time ag...

Non Starter
The car is a 1998 XJ8. Been running perfectly, but noticed that the remote fob has been a bit slow unlocking the car. Thought new batteries should cure it, but hadn't done that yet. Went back to the car today, unlocked it, dash lit up but no starter motor activity. Thought it might be connected to l...

Replaced my secondary chain tensioners today. Hired the tools from the Club and followed Brake Busters excellent advice. Some comments: 1. The old tensioners both had cracks about 7 mm long in them; 2. Should have read the advice more closely, as BB commented that shorter tensioner bolts are require...

Camshaft Locking Bar
Does anyone have the precise dimensions for these? They can't be that difficult to make on a milling machine, and I need to do my XJ8. I have priced up hiring from the Club, but living in the Isle of Man, the carriage will be nearly as much as the hire charge!

Book on V12 Engine
Looking for a good book that covers my 1984 HE engine. Got the Haynes manual which is quite good, but is there a better book that covers this complicated engine in more detail.

Cam Cover Sealant
I notice that a bead of sealant is required at one end of the head when replacing the camcovers. Any information on what type of sealant and where to source it?

JEC Magazine Articles
As a relatively new member, and owning a 1984 XJS and a 1998 XJ8, I have seen a number of references to technical articles in the JEC magazine over the last number of years. Are back copies of the magazine or selected technical articles available?

Exterior Car Cover
My 1984 XJS Coupe stands outside at the moment as I get it ready for the road. Winter here on the Isle of Man can be fairly wet and windy. Anybody suggest a good, strong exterior car cover.
