Re: hesitation when cold
Hi, not sure what age, engine etc. Your car is, but if it before 1990 then the problem is ignition interference upsetting the fuel injection enrichment, that happens until the coolant reaches 78deg c. There is a mod for this that does work, I had the same trouble. Go to Jag lovers web site, look for...

Cold running, misfire, black smoke,
Hi, I have been plagued by poor running when the engine is warming up. It starts ok, but misfires when you try to excellerate until it reaches 75deg. There is a mod! This fault is common with series 3 xk engines with Efi. Technical service Bulletin, ref B-001 Vol V This was issued by Jaguar Canada. ...

Re: Fly screens or wind deflector
No, I did not use them, after examining the windscreen metalwork I found fitting impossible as the captive mounting nuts had moved out of alignment and the hinge fitting would not work.
I sold them on eBay.

Re: End of the lurch
I have visited the lurch.com and have gathered all the info available, including Jaguars own workarounds for this problem. The car had only done 30,000miles when I purchased it and the lurch was there from the start. Not only does it lurch when slowing drop into first, it also speed up the car. If i...

End of the lurch
Hi, I have had to suffer from the gearbox lurch since I bought my 2005 s type diesel in 2008 with 35000 miles on the clock. Many visits to the main dealers did not stop this problem. It had the software replaced with the latest version, but nothing stopped the lurch from coming back. I have got used...

Re: Cabin air flow
Listen for a ticking/clicking sound near the dashboard. If you can hear anything it is probably a faulty flap control motor.
Not uncommon on modern S types, (mine is stuck open). I can live with mine, not worth the time to replace.
Good luck.

Re: tyres - again!
Hi, my xk120 replica is running on vintage Avon radial tyres, I don't know when they were made, but they have only done 20000 miles, the walls and tread look like new. Would be very difficult for the insurers and mot inspectors to date my tires. My 2005 Stype runs on Pirreli p6000, they give a good ...

Re: Cabin Heater
I hope it's not to costly to replace. Mike the problem area of the front loom, seems to be under the near side headlamp. There is a spur going of at that point and the loom is quite tight, my loom was also wet inside, water ingress from the spur junction. Always worth a look if you have wiring probl...

Re: Cabin Heater
Hi Rosemary, the most likely cause of your problem is a broken wire ( white/yellow in colour) in the loom behind the front bumper. I have had the same fault on my 2005 Stype 2.7 Diesel. I also came to the same cross road, change the car or keep it. But as a new car would cost a lot more than I would...

Re: 4.2 oil pressure
Hi, mogb, I have a 1985 4.2 efi that has just been re-built, re-bored etc. My oil pressure is 40 -55 psi above 1000 rpm and 25 - 30 at tickover when hot. Before the rebuild it was 15 at tickover and it took 3000 rpm to get to 40 psi when hot. The oil pressure guage fitted to these engines is well kn...

Re: Fly screens or wind deflector
Hi, I have found a supplier of universal wind wings, for MGA's from Brown & Gammons MG parts.
They look like a good fit, only £59.95 a pair, not purchased them yet, but will do in due course.
Thanks for all your info, will post the results.
Vernon.

Re: Fly screens or wind deflector
Hi Paul,
Not fitting out, I've had the car on the road for 5 years, just thought I would like to reduce the wind when on motorways with the top down.
It's a 120 and have just had the engine re-made (4.2ltr).
Still running in.

Fly screens or wind deflector
Hi, I am looking for fly screens or wind deflectors, that fitt on the side of the windscreen.
I don't mind if they are not glass.
Any ideas !
I know nostalgia had them but at silly price.
Thanks
Vernon
