Re: Cylinder Head Gasket Failure - 2004 - 2.5V6
Pump was taken out and checked after the event and found to be okay. I am continuing to carry out the short runs and will monitor it to see if it's using/losing water plus check the dipstick for any signs. Once I am a bit more confident I will try for longer outings. I've had it 8 years and it' used...

Thanks Doug, need to work on the wife first. Tried to sell it and got offered £300 on the net, rather give it away. Seen your car at Doune Scottish Jaguar day, nice.

Re: Cylinder Head Gasket Failure - 2004 - 2.5V6
New radiator had been fitted Mike as part of the original problem solving exercise. The old one looked as if it had imploded at the bottom due to pressure. Also fitted new expansion tank, thermostat and heater valve during the process. Funny thing is the second engine before it overheat was running ...

Re: Cylinder Head Gasket Failure - 2004 - 2.5V6
Update on this thread. Head went finally. Got a replacement " good " engine from Eurojag. Had the garage switch engines and got the car MOT'd at a cost of just under £1800 all in. Did just under 20 miles on test run with new engine and couldn't believe when it boiled up. Thought maybe water pump had...

Re: Coolant leak
It's a matter of course now Mike, I watch that and the temperature gauge like a hawk. Confined to short journeys of 40/50 miles max at the moment as well in it. Out of interest had an off the cuff rough estimate from my local garage of around £1400/1500 for head gasket repairs. Both heads stripped, ...

Re: Coolant leak
Put the K seal in through the expansion tank ( couldn't figure out how to release the top hose clip to put it in through that ) and have down around 150 miles since over a series of 4 to 5 days. Water level seems to drop for a short time in the expansion tank when the engine is at normal temperature...

Re: Coolant leak
Thanks. I've got the K Seal. Cars in garage at the moment getting the rear wheel ABS sensor done. Will clear up the electrical gremlin. K seal going in tomorrow and I will run it to see the results ( hopefully improve or even stop it for a while ). Plan is, if no improvement, after holiday in Septem...

Re: Coolant leak
Thanks Jeff, That's basically how I see it as well. I am giving it a shot based on nothing to loose anyway. By the way out if curiosity I am estimating at around 1200 to 1500 pounds for strip out and repair of the head gasket/s. Anybody any idea. Also would it be advisable for both heads to be done ...

Re: Coolant leak
Will do Mike. Going to try the K seal this week and monitor it. Hopefully it will improve situation but if no success then I am taking it over to the RR/Bentley/Jag specialist in Dalkieth again after our holidays in September. Presumably some big bucks to be spent. Pics under L17MCA in register, may...

Re: Coolant leak
Sorry if it's boring but I have a new perspective on this on going problem. Car been in garage again. No obvious leaks at all found, left the under tray off for a wee while whilst I use it again to monitor the situation. Used the car after getting it back for a couple of days for running to and from...

Re: Coolant leak
Thanks Jeff,
I was kind of thinking that, it was just when it was advertised for Jaguar and other makes. Then again it's Ebay.

Re: Coolant leak
Hi Mike, Suspect there may be a problem with this top hose as I detected water dropping from the back of the engine rear under tray at the back of the engine when I parked up on my drive ( it's quite a steep gradient ). Going to get the garage to check it with the ramps at an angle with the engine r...

Re: Coolant leak
Hello, Been a while since I wrote about this issue. Still got the problem but even worse now. One new radiator and expansion tank plus all the time and labour costs incurred getting to this stage - down about £800. Radiator had shown signs of extreme pressure at bottom end (virtually melted some sec...

Hi Mike,
Sounds a good product. Unfortunately we tried Radweld previously and I don't think I can put more in for exactly the reasons you say.
Thanks
John

Re: Heater Control Valve - suspected leaking -2004 V6 2.5 S
Hi Oldtimer, I am pretty well convinced that's where the leak may well be and I am going to monitor it very closely for a couple of weeks before I put it into my local garage for repair. My guess is that water is being forced out under pressure as vapour from this area when the engine is running, do...
