Classicfabs have been around long enough to get an excellent reputation for doing high quality work. If it comes from them it will fit.

Re: Classic Car Rescue.
An embarrassment start to finish. The so called mechanic has been in a previous car related programme which was equally as dire. When I see some of the American car shows such as hosted by the late Boyd Cottington or Chip Foose i feel ashamed that this UK based programme reflects so badly on the gre...

Re: 4 speed manual gearvbox on S2 OTS
[quote="suarthardy"]Pat, You are correct about needing to remove the reaction plate but this is also essential when lifting the engine and gearbox out from above, so its not really additional work. It is, however, a complete pain in the butt although after the third time it gets easier. Phil, I have...

Re: 4 speed manual gearvbox on S2 OTS
I like the sound of your method. How strong does the lifting gear need to be to raise the front of the car - any stronger than you need to lift the engine and box? Phil Phil If considering removing the engine box from underneath don't forget the torsion bar plate has to be removed and the additiona...

Re: How do you identify a 4.2 E-type box?
Does anyone know if all Jaguar 4.2 4-speed manual gearboxes are the same or do E-types use different ratios from other Jaguars? If there are incorrect gearboxes to avoid, how can I verify an E-type 4.2 box? Phil Phil The series 2 box differed from the 4.2 series one in a number of ways and all were...

Re: Oil pressure acceptable variations
Where do you connect the wet gauge to get the more accurate reading? You need to be in the Main Oil Gallery, there are a number of points to access this along the RHS of the block, however, when I have fitted wet gauges I have used a tee adapter on the existing sender unit. Remove sender, insert te...

Re: How old is an E Type driver?
Got my rebuilt top wishbones on having CMC modify them to take sealed modern ball joints. Took it for a blast yesterday and what a difference, pin sharp steering and fantastic sunshine an excellet 200 miles in great weather. More sunshine please.

V12 top wishbones
I have finally bitten the bullet and removed, stripped and sent off to cmc my top wishbones for modifying to accept plastic insert joints. I am hoping they will be back in time for WestonPark. I got to the stage where a new ball joint with shims didn't take up the play, and thankfully there is now a...

Re: How old is an E Type driver?
Hi
I am 58 and had my first E Type at age 18, (PNK299D) I have had at least 1 E Type ever since, although they might have been in tea chests for some of my ownership.
Currently got my XKER, having just sold my Lightweight replica, (also got a Vanquish and a 400bhp Mk1 2 door cortina).
Regards
Pat

Re: radius arm removal
Hi
What year is the car. The earlier cars are accessed as stated above, later cars have a cut head bolt that unscrews towards the diff, but you have to remove the lower forward shock absorber nut and slide the lower shocker mount rearwards.

Re: Broken Cylinder Head Stud 4.2 engine
I feel your pain. There is a bit more to come! I know that VSE can tackle such a job, however, its either engine out strip and send to them, if you are the practical sort or send the car to them. You might get a few replies telling you how someone done the repair on the side of the road late on a Sa...

Hi
Ref engine revs not returning to tickover, check RH engine mount as if it has deteriorated or poor quality then the linkage can touch the frame.
