I have a 98 reg'd LWB Sovereign. I have Pirelli P6000's on all four corners with a 98W speed rating. My handbook refers only to recommended manufacturer and tyre size for a variety of wheel options but there is no reference to speed rating.

Tyre widths
I have 19" Jaguar apollo alloys on my XK8 with 255/40/19 p zeros on the rear. I think, but am not certain, that the rear wheels are 9J. If this is the case would they be able to safely accept a wider 275mm tyre? And would the fronts which I believe are 8J's be able to accept the 255mm tyre? Any comm...

Twin tail pipe conversion
Has anyone tried and succeeded in converting the single exhaust system on a 2.0L petrol model to a twin exhaust system (like on the 2.5/3.0 models)?

Gearbox warning light
My fault!
Put the two relays nearest the bulkhead back in the wrong way round. What they have to do with the transmission light is still a mystery to me but it's sorted the problem.

Gearbox warning light
Any thoughts/comments on the following greatly appreciated. Gearbox warning light comes on when ignition turned off and remains on even when key removed from ignition! If I restart the car the light goes off and the car appears to be driving normally changing through gears as you would expect. But n...

Subject title was fine on preview but went pair shaped when I submitted it.

Is there a difference between being "mad" and &quo
I'm beginning to wonder actually! I've been with the club a few years now but only recently acquired my first XJS. The "jag bug" took hold about five years ago and since then the obsession has set in big time. I have four jags. An XK8 Coupe (4.2), XJ8 (4.0 LWB), X Type (2.0 petrol) and my newest and...

Who here is a DIY mechanic
I'm certainly interested in any form of information exchange or practical demonstration that will help keep costs down. An advisory item on my last MOT notes that the radius arm bushes will need replacing. The parts cost from somone like SNG Barretts for all four bushes is around £70. So with labour...

Who here is a DIY mechanic
This is something I've been thinking about getting into more and more recently especially after some of the repair/MOT bills I've had lately. With independant garages charging anything between £50 - £80 an hour it is easy to find the cost of basic routine work being far in excess of the cost of the ...

Have a word with LesPauls in Woodford just past the Gants Hill roundabout on the A12. (0208 551 8537). Had upper and lower tensioners, guides, thermostat, water pump, crank shaft pulley, seals and gaskets and both VVT units replaced for just under £1,500. Labour cost was £350 and VVT units were £250...

Engine coolant
I've a 1998 reg'd 4.0L Sovereign and would like to know what Jaguar coolant I should be topping up with. I'm pretty certain its not the red coolant that seems to be used in current models but if anyone knows what the Jaguar part number or code is I'd be grateful.

Any reason why 19" alloys from an 05 XK (pre new style all aluminium bodied version) would not fit say an 02 XK?

Yes all things are possible. Have just replaced cloth interior of my 2.0 litre Classic (03) with leather interior from 2.5 litre SE model (02). Door panels were a straight swop - easy. Drivers panel had puddle light though wiring not present (I couldn't find it) so used reflector from original panel...
