Re: sleeping policemen!
it seems the problem is more geographical than general. If you are lucky enough to live in an area where sleeping policemen have been correctly installed (max. 100mm above road surface) and drive carefully acknowledging the associated speed restriction, you will not experience any problems (as Mike)...

roof lining
Thought with the new model XK(R), the old XK8 problems would be a distant memory. Of course not. Having replaced the roof lining twice in my XK8 I now find I have the same problem with my 2006 XKR. I can recall nearly 30 cars that I have owned, probably more with those I have forgotten, and the only...

Re: winter cover
Hello Jon, no I didn't try the JEC cover. Although quite a few options the range appeared to be 'multi model' and not expressly tailored for 2006+ XKR's. I live in Cornwall, (Lizard Peninsula), and we frequently experience very strong winds. I needed a cover that would be a tight fit and not have to...

Re: winter cover
Hello Jon, yes, it has several ties which, although I only use one, I imagine would survive 60-70 mph winds. The water beads off the surface although with prolonged exposure it soaks into the fabric, but the bodywork is almost completely dry beneath. Fits well and looks good. Probably the best avail...

Re: winter cover
Just received the cover from Adamesh, and the first cover of four previous purchases (returned) that actually fits. Some photos attached

Re: winter cover
well it appears that Adamesh are the best bet. Haven't received the cover yet but custom made + Jaguar logo at a good price. Will provide a 'fitted' photo.

winter cover
Has anybody found a car cover manufacturer producing a 'bespoke' cover that really does fit the XK, rather than one from a range of standard sizes (that nearly fit but not very well). Looking for an outside cover for the winter as my car is under a car port rather than in a garage (which is too smal...

Re: engine rattle on startup!
I suppose predictably, there is now a question as to whether or not the 'rattle' is a warranty item as nothing has broken. If the VVT were to be left to deteriorate even further surely the end result would be chains slipping and eventually a serious engine failure? If they are losing oil pressure du...

Re: engine rattle on startup!
as the rattle was increasing in duration and noise, I have had the top end opened up. Turned out to be VVT, and with both banks replaced the rattle is gone. Whilst doing the work the supercharger belt tensioner was found to be 'ceased', locked solid, so just as well to strip down and have the work d...

sleeping policemen!
I can't see any comments concerning the ground clearance of the 2006 XK(R), and would have assumed from this that there is no problem in crossing road humps commonly found in villages, outside schools and wherever local councillors live. However having studied the gap between the ground and car, and...

Re: engine rattle on startup!
well I've just had the belts changed, has to be a kit nowadays as Jag. don't sell just the belts - which is just as well because the tensioner had 'ceased', locked solid. Now replaced but hasn't cured the engine rattle, which although only on start up when cold for 2 seconds, it's not what you want ...

Re: New owner
well I guess their scarcity marks them out as future collectors cars, also more practical on long motorway journeys as the supercharger is only intended to wake up elderly residents (! wait, I am elderly). The whole range of the new XK seem to be holding prices at present.

Re: sub frame rot
well I guess I should have researched this some time ago. Articles from the Mag. show what can happen (if the cars are used in the wet) and no doubt will continue to happen even if sprayed where viewed but leaving the contact surface untreated (which I think is where the galvanic reaction occurs). A...

Re: New owner
Hi Robban,
3.5L ? is that a V8. (supercharged?) where did they make these? A good choice over Merc. although I'll have trouble keeping to my 5000 per annum now!
