Fitting a new T5 Gearbox
I have read some discussions on gearbox upgrades but to date I haven't seen the answer to a question i have. Having upgraded from Moss box with overdrive many years ago to a 5 speed Getrag, this year on my journey back from Le Mans the Getrag gave up the ghost. I looked around for a replacement and ...

Steering wheel size?
I've fitted a hydraulic power steering conversion to my 1961 3.8 and although I haven't done many miles in it yet it seems to work fine. The problem I have now though is the (large) steering wheel seems overkill and with a more direct and positive link between my hands and the road wheels any slight...

Re: Instrument light colour
Thanks to all. I guess that bears out the blue domes in the large instruments.

Instrument light colour
My car is being worked on at the moment so I don't have access to look, but I want to know what colour the original instrument lighting is. I thought it was green, but looking at the speedo and tacho (which I have out) there are blue domes in the lamp holes so I'm puzzled. Are these domes easy to re...

Re: XJ40 seats in Mk2
Thanks Brian that will be helpful. I figured the fronts should be fairly straightforward. Did you have to alter the mounting height for the seats or just adapt the fixing points? Unless I can get info from someone that had done the rear seat conversion already I am thinking I'll have to place the Mk...

XJ40 seats in Mk2
I know this conversion has been done by a number of people and (at least) the front seats conversion is a regular thing for people like Beecham, but has anyone here done it and if so can you give advice and pictures of what is needed please? Will I need to cut anything off my original front seat fra...

S£ Ignition problem (distributor)
I have a strange problem with oil or oil vapour getting into distributor and burning on to contacts. Result is increasing misfires until when too many cylinders miss it becomes really bad Does anyone have any experience of this and is it just down to the £2 'O' ring on the shaft or do I have a bigge...

Re: S3 V12 steering wheel [faulty] horn push mechanism
From memory (not sure that's very reliable these days!) it looks about right. I had a problem a while back where there spring did not seem to have enough oomph to overcome friction in the mechanism and keep the contact up and in touch with the wheel contact. For me the horn worked at first push afte...

Re: Indicator Switch
Thanks all. I double checked the switch and the ring/lug on the column. After that I spoke with SNG Barratt who, after a bit of in house consultation said the notation on their website was wrong and the switch is a self-cancelling type as it should be with the nylon spring as described. Seems the co...

Re: Indicator Switch
Thanks. I don't then understand why each of the main suppliers describes the switch they sell as "non self cancelling". Are they not supplying the right switch or is it the column clip that does the business so their replacement switch would be OK?

Indicator Switch
My car is off the road at the moment :( so I can't check out what I believe to be the case so looking for help please. I think that my indicator switch is or at least should be self-cancelling. It's a 1961 RHD 3.8 manual. The switch is faulty and am trying to source a replacement, but all I can find...
