Re-tax now (March) for another year at zero cost. It will say the vehicle is already taxed but will allow it to be renewed.

I agree with Paul with the seized lock barrel. With central locking, the boot rarely gets used with a key. It could have been seized for a long time without realising.

Use something like Plus gas rather then WD40, gently work it in with the key and maybe let it sit for a while.

Welcome, I doubt if main dealers still have the ability to get codes anymore, that used to be the way to do it.
