Re: AJ16 intermittent misfire
I had mine bronze welded and re-faced by a local engineering firm in 2003. Still working fine without any cracks. I can't remember the cost but was likely just a few hours labour. Likely caused by a blocked sump filter resulting in lean running, this was on a pre-facelift so different fuel tank syst...

I Pace VED
I Pace owners will be aware of the VED costs that apply from April.
Re-tax now (March) for another year at zero cost. It will say the vehicle is already taxed but will allow it to be renewed.

Re: Boot in locked position doesn't operate
I agree with Paul with the seized lock barrel. With central locking, the boot rarely gets used with a key. It could have been seized for a long time without realising.
Use something like Plus gas rather then WD40, gently work it in with the key and maybe let it sit for a while.

There have been many previous threads about the same problem.
Have a look through the various XJS sections on here especially the Suspension sub-section.

Re: lets have our own BREAKFAST meet ??
Has the Haynes Museum at Sparkford been mentioned?
Close to the A303, free parking and access to the on-site cafe with inside and outside seating.
You don't have to visit the museum itself, but if you do the ticket gives unlimited access for a year.

Re: Getting Old - New Driving Licence regulations
Regarding variofocal lenses, I've used for a few years, and can recommend, Zeiss DriveSafe lenses. Not cheap, but what price comfort and safety. Since having them, I have no problem with the transition between distance and close vision either when driving or reading etc. Night time glare is also vas...

I'm told Popham airfield on the A303 is good although i haven't tried it myself yet. I went to their classic car show earlier in the year.I’d love to hear any other ideas in the area
May be worth exploring?

Re: 1989 XJ-S - attempting to get radio working
Welcome, I doubt if main dealers still have the ability to get codes anymore, that used to be the way to do it.
Unless you really want to maintain originality it may be time to upgrade to a modern unit with bluetooth/Apple Car Play etc.

Re: What I did to my XJ-S today.....
I was at the Sussex event at Parham House, lovely location and being a dry day there was a well attended and varied selection of cars. Quite a lot of XJS models which was good to see as there seem to be less and less of them lately. However especially in the company of F Types and later XK8/R cars t...

Re: Boiled brakes?
Interesting, I wonder what the difference is in practice.
I guess as long as all old fluid is flushed out and there is no air in the system there is no difference.
Could be the makings of a magazine article?

Re: Boiled brakes?
Sorted, I hope. Discs, pads and calipers all in good condition with even pad wear. No leaks apart from a damp bleed nipple on one front caliper. What I did find was a very low fluid level. The plastic reservoir isn't the easiest thing to make out the level marks due to slight discolouration and the ...
