Re: Nearly new to Jaguars
Hi Jerry, Welcome to E-type ownership and the forum. I think you have made a sound decision to buy a project car. The Splined hub will do a great job of getting your car on the road and you will have the benefit of knowing that all the metal is sound and rust free, Buying a shiny looking E-type can ...

Re: LHD to RHD
Hi Silverfox, If most of your driving is going to be in the UK, then definitely change it over to RHD. From a safety point of view and it will be cheaper on insurance to have it RHD All E-type chassis were made to be built either RHD or LHD on the production line, so most of the cost is labour Major...

Re: Rim
Hi Richard,
You don't say what size of rim or tyre you are requesting advice for. Also is your query for an E-type or a Mk 10? If an E-type, which model, as there were several different options.
Can you be a bit more specific please?

Re: Rear Number Plate Surround Rivets
Hi,
If you use pop rivets where previously there was a fastener capable of providing a seal, the most likely you will get some water ingress

Re: Series 1 Wiper Motor Wiring and Testing
Hi Peter I took these wiring notes when replacing the brushes on my own 1967 S1 car. However, before you start stripping the motor, check that the connections through the 5-way connector and the separate single connector to earth are good and clean as oxidation on the bullet ends can stop continuity...

Re: Bleeding an empty system
Dear Peter, I also have a series 1 2+2.(1967) On this car there are 2 separate fluid reservoirs, one for the front brakes and one for the rear brakes. You need to fill the rear section of the braking circuit first. It is a slow process, but the best way to do this is raise the front end of the car s...
Re: Tyre Size
Hi Chris, I thoroughly agree with Tony's comments that modern wider tyres are much better ( I have 215/65/15 on my car with the MWS wheels Aston martin configuration having a larger hub / rim offset) If you need to ask about this set up please talk to Ken Jenkins, the clubs technical expert who advi...

Re: Excessive blue smoke and oil consumption
Hi David, did you resolve this issue of excessive oil consumption yet? My 1967 2+2also suffers from oil draining into one of the cylinders when the car has been standing for a couple of weeks. The same cloud of smoke on starting, but after that running perfectly. Ken Jenkins advised that the late S1...
