Hi. Car is X308 3.2 SE - 2002.
Restrictive performance light is on again and car idling lumpy. Did a scan with my Icarsoft and got a code P0355 "Ignition Coil E Secondary/primary circuit"
Can anyone enlighten me as to which cylinder Coil E is please? Thanks
Regards

Re: Restricted Performance Light on?
Just to conclude this post. My x308 is now all up and running perfectly, both on petrol and LPG. No warning lights and performance is noticably better, hopefully MPG will be improved as well. Local garage changed the Lambda oxygen sensor i provided and carried out the annual MOT. She did fail on two ...

Re: Restricted Performance Light on?
Just an update in case anyone was interested in my ramblings. I Replaced the knock sensors when they arrived and as Andy said, not too bad a job with the help of a guide wire and some quickly fashioned hooks out of old wire coat hanger. I also purchased the upstream oxygen sensor and socket as advis...

Re: Restricted Performance Light on?
Thanks Andy, First class advice/information, and much appreciated. I was just going to order the knock sensors and Oxyygen sensor now, but i better check for water leaks first. It looks dry at a quick inspection. I have done quite a bit of work on the cooling system about a year ago, replacing the r...

Re: Restricted Performance Light on?
Hi Andy, Yes i think you are right i don't think i have quite mastered the icarsoft i930 or the jag just yet.(Too old i think,i still like playing with the points in my old volvo penta boat engine :D ) I have been out on the car just now checking all the previous suggestions with the exception of th...

Re: Restricted Performance Light on?
Thanks Jeroen, I will certainly check out all the things you suggested if i can find all the relevant connectors. I do have an icarsoft scanner but as i said in my original post it doesn't give me any codes but it just says "unable to diagnose fault code refer to jaguar main dealer diagnostic system...

Restricted Performance Light on?
Hi, 2002 XJ308 3.2 SE, My Restricted performance light is now permanently iluminated along with the check engine light. But the car seems to runs perfectly well with no misfiring apart from the Rev limiter kicking in at 3000 rpm due to the restrictive performance light. (which i find quite dangerous...

Low Coolant Level
Hi Richard, I had a similar slow loss of coolant which turned out to be a very small leak from the radiator in the oil cooler area. I had to top up every couple of weeks but could not find the leak and nor could my local garage. Eventually my 2002 xj8 3.2 se overheated on the way into Cheltenham nec...

Re: Overheated But No warning lights and temp gauge normal?
Thanks Mike. A mind of information as always. No i haven't done the water pump so that will be my next step. I've been back out on the car this am and run it up to temp. Pretty sure the thermostat is opening as hose from thermostat housing is now getting hot. No coolant loss and temp guage stays at ...

Re: Overheated But No warning lights and temp gauge normal?
Well i have replaced thermostat, drivebelt, coolant sensor and radiator. I also did an oil and filter change plus some work underneath to keep the tinworm at bay. Filled the system with coolant from tower cap, squeezing the hoses as i went along until filled to top. It took about 7 litres of coolant ...

Re: Overheated But No warning lights and temp gauge normal?
Sound advice as usual. Looks like a trip on the back of a recovery vehicle to Bristol Transmissions where the oil change was carried out. Unless David Marks can come up with anything else when i hear back from him. I suspect he will repeat what you guys have already said. For now jag is on hold unti...

Re: Overheated But No warning lights and temp gauge normal?
Hi Mike, The problem is that the connection nut on the gearbox cooler pipe itself is stripped and no chance of restoration to that. Its got to be a new complete pipe i'm afraid. I can get the pipe no problem but its at the gearbox end when i undo the connection( if i can get to it) that i'm concerne...

Re: Overheated But No warning lights and temp gauge normal?
Have got the radiator out and no obvious holes to be seen, I suspect damage is under the oil cooler. As is always the case i found another problem when removing the lower gearbox oil cooling pipe(outlet pipe) The connection nut is almost completely stripped of thread and the radiator threaded insert...
