Re: Anyone ever Decatted an XK8?
More than 8yrs on since my last post and car's still in my ownership. Still getting 300 miles on a 60l fill of LPG at a cost of £30 that equates to 53mpg in monetary terms. Cats weren't a requirement until 2015 when I had to buy a cheap set from ebay for £120 per side, flew through emissions and sti...

Decatt pipes fitted
Battery disconnected so could relearn. OMG!!! coupled with my X-pipes the sound and acceleration are amazing. Have yet to give it a really good seeing to...but am driving up to Sunderland from Somerset early hours of 23rd July for a 9am meeting....then on up to Edinburgh for another meeting at 2pm. ...

Well courtesy of the LPG conversion, and my cats being shot (holed and cracked and 3.5yrs old) I bought a pair of CAT bypasses from EAPJ and had them fitted two weeks ago. OMG!! The acceleration is phenomenal and the engine braking when coasting to a stop is far less restrictive...in other words the...

Pirelli's have recently (last 12 months) changed their compound and the new ones are supposed to be awesome (as our American cousins would say). I've 18" Double 5's and have tried Avon ZZ3 (rubbish) Falken (not bad) GDS3's (good 26k miles) Toyo's (average) Pilot Sports (average) Most recently change...

Anyone aware of upgraded wheel bearings that last longer?
Have changed mine twice in the 5yrs of ownership and it seems silly. Yes it's a heavy car...I appreciate that but there are others heavier that don't require a 30k change. So along the lines of powerflex bushes (which I have) why isn't a stronger bearing available? (And yes appreciate that the power...

Norman, wouldn't consider them at that price, am only going for the bypass pipes as less than half of what a set of sports cats would cost (supplied and fitted) and is unlikely I'll need CATS with me running on LPG. Not really after performance gains since my car delivers 60-70 MPG based on me filli...

My last emissions test (Dec 09) was Description Limits Actual CO <=0.300% 0.005% HC <=200 ppm 11ppm Lambda 0.970-1.030 1.010 (due to leaky CAT) Fast Idle CO <=0.300% 0.037% HC <= 200ppm 18ppm Lambda 0.970-1.030 1.028 (due to leaky CAT) The MOT tester advised that it would fly through emissions once ...

Anyone ever Decatted an XK8?
No real reason for me to have them since I'm LPG converted and one of my original CAT's (96) took a bashing from some road debris and has a small crack and needs to be replaced anyway. Managed to get it through MOT with some judicious patching but that didn't last more than a couple of hours beyond ...

Peter it's strange as I have a 96 100k mileage XK8 which everyone assumed had been lowered. No the springs were actually knackered  A year ago I had 2005 springs (which are stronger and apparently shorter than stock for my 96) fitted along with new shocks and a polybush set. The result is that ...

Have now done 1000 miles on them and have to say they are excellent to the point of lunacy! If anyone was driving M25/M4/M5 yesterday they'll know that it was VERY wet. I have never felt so comfortable with any tyres in such weather conditions ...hence the lunacy comment as you an get compla...
