CD 6 disc Multi Player
Can anyone recommend companies who service and repair Jaguar CD changers, please? My CD changer stopped working recently and my garage replaced it with a used replacement. A few weeks later that one, too, appears to have failed and the dreaded message "CDC Error" is back. The six-CD cartridge won't ...

Euro 4 emissions standards and clean air zones
You make a good point about Historic Vehicle status applying to 25-year-old vehicles (as it did previously) rather than only to 40-year-old ones. With more and more electric cars paying no road tax we keep hearing that the government is considering other ways to recover the lost revenue. One suggest...

Euro 4 emissions standards and clean air zones
Sorry if I didn't make things clear in my earlier post. I am, of course, happy that my Euro 3 car is treated as Euro 4 compliant. My concern is that many other Euro 1, Euro 2 and Euro 3 Jaguars (and pre-Euro 1 cars) will not be treated in that way. It was in that context that I raised the question o...

Euro 4 emissions standards and clean air zones
Thanks for that helpful response. There seems to be some good news and some bad news! First, the good news. It seems, according to the Gov.uk and TFL websites that my Euro 3 car is exempt from ULEZ and other clean air zone charges. I can only assume that is because, although not actually certified a...

Euro 4 emissions standards and clean air zones
I previously posted on this subject in January. I have since established that my wife's 2004 3-litre X Type is a "clean" Euro 4 car whilst my 2003 model is a "dirty" Euro 3 car. That means I must pay a penalty charge to drive into nearby Bristol (or London, Birmingham and many other towns and cities...

Euro 4 emissions standards for petrol X Types
Many British cities will soon be requiring cars to meet Euro 4 emissions standards (petrol) or Euro 6 (diesel) - or face a penalty charge. My wife and I drive 3-litre petrol X types - one a 2003 (03) car and one a 2004 (54 plate) car. But do they meet Euro 4 standards? I checked our V5 registration ...

Door lock problems
Many thanks for the advice about used locks from Ebay. I'll give it a try. And I'll try regular lubrication, too. That said, I'm still puzzled about why Jaguar charge more for X-Type door locks than for almost any other model and why they are so much more prone to failure. I've had Jaguars for many ...

Door lock problems
I bought my 3-litre X Type five years ago and it's been a great car - apart from being plagued with door lock problems. The driver's door lock had just been replaced when I bought the car because of an MOT failure (door wouldn't open from the inside). More recently, I had to have the O/S/R door lock...

What's that N/S/F rattle?!
My garage tell me that an air conditioning pipe in the N/S/F wheel arch area (behind the wheel arch liner) has come loose and appears to be the source of the rattle. The garage has refitted the pipe to its bracket and, so far, the rattle appears to have gone. Let's hope they are right!

What's that rattle?!
Thanks, Jimdox. I plan to check the anti-rattle clips on the disc pads first (as I'm planning to replace the front discs/pads anyway) and, if that doesn't do the trick I'll check-out the vertical links and the suspension compressor bracket. Regards. Charlie

Re: What's that rattle?!
Brian/Mike, Thanks for your advice. I'll check-out both the vertical links and the anti-rattle clips on the front brake pads. Thanks again. Charlie

What's that rattle?!
On bumpy roads I've got an annoying rattle from the front (N/S/F, I think) of my X350R. My garage assures me that the suspension and anti-roll bar bushes are all fine so I guess it must be something else. I've heard of issues with riveted aluminium panels at the front of these cars coming loose. Cou...

X350 buying hints and tips - Japanese imports.
Mike, sorry - I appreciate everything you say - but I think I may have misled you. Several dealers now seem to import X350s from southern Japan. They say they do so because they can pick-up pampered, low mileage executive cars (Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW, etc) which have not suffered the ravages of salt ...

X350 buying hints and tips - Japanese imports.
I'm thinking of buying an X350R to replace my elderly X308 Sovereign. I thought Mike's hints and tips were excellent. I'm also reading Nigel Thorley's very helpful "Essential Buyer's Guide". But are there any special issues with Japanese imports? I've noticed that several of the X350Rs advertised on...

Damaged exhaust and MOT failure
Mike - what you say about the work Longlife Exhausts carried out on your X350 sounds fantastic. There is a branch near me at Bristol so I think I'll give them a try. Thanks again.
P.S. I've always fancied an X350 supercharger. A present for 2018, perhaps?!
