Re: Overhaul of SU Carbs
Thanks for your prompt reply iRS, good to know its been done before with them still on the manifold. I mentioned diaphrams as I was referring to the jets which sit in the centre of a circular rubber (maybe other flexible material) disk - I simply refer to these as diaphrams :) Carbs fitted are on F-...

Overhaul of SU Carbs
Having problems with E Type 4.2 which has little use until recently. Start is ok but running can be a bit rough at times and found what looks like fuel in the air inlet trumpet on the carb nearest the bulkhead. Don't think carbs have ever been touched and suspect diaphrams may be perished. So I want...

Re: Broken Cylinder Head Stud 4.2 engine
Thanks Roger for your most helpful reply. Can you share where you obtained the short studs and inserts and where you had that work done? Much appreciated!

Re: Broken Cylinder Head Stud 4.2 engine
Hi there!
I have a 4.2 Ser 2 E Type and it has a couple of broken studs, just wondered if it would be ok to replace the broken long ones with short studs fastened in to the top of the block with some sort of helicoil. Any one done this before? Any thoughts?
Thanks
Bob

Any...

Problems after battery change
Unfortunately I have had to replace the battery on our 1997 XK8 Conv. I followed the correct procedure (earth off first and on last) and all seemed well but the door would not subsequently unlock using either of the two remote fobs. Can only open using keys and have to disable alarm via ignition. Is...

Stalling and mis-fire
Hi very pleased with my X Type estate (2.0L Diesel, 85K) but since I bought it, 01 Apr 10, it does seem to stall easily. Now I know that the first couple of times it could have been my fault but trying to pull away in a 2.0L diesel on a flat surface should be straight forward. I have not had any cod...
