Thanks. I've now sold the car and am a BMW driver! Boo....
It turned out to be the non-premium sound system.
All the best,
Nigel

Sterling Performance Cars 2002 XJR 69k - be careful...
Guys, I am selling my S-Type R and probably leaving the Jaguar owners fold for a while but I was tempted by the XJR which Sterling have up for sale on eBay. In fact they have two, at £5995 and £4995 or thereabouts, but I was interested in the first which supposedly has 69k and FSH. A high spec car w...

2005 S-Type R, 56k, Silver/Dove
My S-Type R is up for sale on eBay and Autotrader at £7495. Superb car, and cheapest comparable car on both sites simply because I have my eye on its secret successor... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2005-JAGUAR-S-TYPE-SUPERCHARGED-4-2-V8-R-AUTO-SILVER-FSH-SUPERB-/291154433881?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=ite...

Great stuff. Many thanks Paul, that's the green I like and I now have a name for it!

Did X308 ever come in a darker green than BRG?
I'm talking to someone about moving back from S-Type R to XJR (yes, BB, you were right I will be back). He has sent me a photo of a car described as British Racing Green but (and there is another car in the background so I don't think it's just the light) it looks darker than BRG to me - more like w...

Re: Taste test - Vulcan vs Zeus wheels
Thanks Doug (Montana5), that's brilliant. I enjoyed my five mins watching the 10th anniversary link in your sig: lots of Zeus on show there plus the odd Vulcan, and it confirms i do prefer the Zeus. I presume this was an earlier wheel, not sure why they thought the Vulcan was better... I am indeed t...

Taste test - Vulcan vs Zeus wheels
I know it's up to me and my personal taste/preference but would appreciate your collective views in addition. I am delighted with my S-Type R, and the silver finish - not a colour I would ever have chosen - is rapidly growing on me. The one thing I'm not sure about is the wheels which are the standa...

Re: Winter tyres (or winter wheels?) on S-Type R
Have no fear, I am a Brit but not a young Brit! I drive cautiously, approaching junctions in particular at very modest speed. I accelerate out of junctions extremely cautiously and apply the brakes gently and in plenty of time. I keep ample distance from the vehicle in front and slow naturally (litt...

Get those winter tyres!
Well I said I would report back... I was nervous about spending close to £800 on the Vredensteins so maybe part of the joy I'm feeling is relief we've actually had some snow to justify the expense! But i'm a very happy man indeed. On Tuesday we had an inch or so of snow which would have stopped me g...

Re: Winter tyres (or winter wheels?) on S-Type R
That's good. The STR is my only car. One of the main reasons I got the winter tyres was to change my general outlook when it snows from "oh no, I have to drive in this" or even "oh no, I MAY have to drive in this" to "ah, how pretty"... and secondarily, if I do have to drive I'll feel more confident...

Re: Retro fitting auto wipers?
Thanks. Have used Eurojag several times - nice people, great service, know their Jags! I knew what I was getting into when I bought a full Premium Sound System for the XJR (X308) - David Marks had to rip the insides out of the car to install the wiring loom... big job but a huge improvement. I would...

Changing speedo/tacho dial colour - a bulb thing or more?
I love the modern dash of my S-Type R compared with mt XJR and XKR-S... though I have to say I am not a fan of the green/orange display. I presume this is something I have to live with (and i can certainly do so) but if anyone has a handy tip on replacing the bulbs or whatever to change this then le...

Retro fitting auto wipers?
I am loving the S-Type R and wondering why I didn't come to S-Type-land sooner. ..
The only thing I miss from the XKR-S it replaced is the auto wipers; does anyone know how expensive and complicated it would be to retro-fit, including which parts I would need to obtain?
Nigel

Happy bunny...
Had my Vredenstein winter tyres fitted a week ago. Drove to Bracknell (290 miles round trip) in normal weather and am pleased - no noticeable change in driving experience on snow-free roads and the comforting thought that when the white stuff falls I'll be able to move. Seriously, I'm hoping that th...

Re: Interior light
Has anyone sorted this and identified what worked?
My recently acquired STR does the same - interior lights iluminate on door opening for entry and exit but I want them to also illuminate when I pull the ignition key out (as all my cars to date have done).
Thanks,
Nigel
