For sale-1983 V12 XJ-S manual gearbox
Having only had limited chances to use my XJ-S over the past year, I have decided to sell her. Here is a unique V12 XJ-S. 1983 converted to a 5 speed manual gearbox, which releases more of the pwer than the original 3 speed auto box. A stainless steel sports exhaust and enlarged throttle bodies (fro...

Re: MOT-Where to go?
Thanks Jon. That reinforces my 'inkling' - I was leaning towards the MOT tester with greater model knowledge (and sympathy?),
Will book it in...

MOT-Where to go?
My MOT is close to expiry. Is there any reason to go to a Jaguar specialist, who also do MOTs, rather than any old MOT testing station? I know they should look at identical things in the same way for the MOT, but wonder if that is the reality for a 30+ year old car. There is a specialist not too far...

Replacement wheel nuts?
I have always been slightly unsure why there is a slightly loose fitting cover over the X350 wheel nuts. When I first noticed it I panicked and thought I had loose nuts (stop sniggering at the back...). Does anyone know the spec of the wheel nuts in order to get some more standard (i.e. one piece) w...

Re: Which tyres are you using?
By way of sharing info, I have just changed my two front tyres to Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 tyres (18 inches). So far so good. I have only done a hundred or so miles with them, but can confirm they are no noisier than the previous Pirellis. Grip, wear and impact on economy remains to be seen. I...

Inspection- Eastleigh, Hants?
Hi All, I am looking to swap my 2003 4.2 XJ, just to have a change, after 3.5 years. I have spotted a 2005 XJR in Eastleigh on Ebay. Unfortunately this is some distance from me in the Midlands. Are there any independent Jag specialists in the area you might suggest to undertake a pre-purchase inspec...

Re: X350 buying hints and tips.
Thanks for that information, Mike.
I have owned my 4.2 for nearly 3.5 years and didn't know half that info. I am considering a swap for another X350, so that is very timely.
Now, back to trawling the web, looking for a non grey/silver, 2003-2006 XJR or XJ 4.2...

Re: What tyres to fit?
Thank you - good to get that information. I am still pondering the way forward, so certainly timely info for me.
The thread on the XJ series section is very helpful. Good to have confirmation of 6j width pepperpot wheels being compatible with 215 width tyres.
Best wishes,
David

Re: borg warner model 12 noisy
Is the insulation etc all in place, around the gearbox? Just a thought before you have the gearbox removed and rebuilt. I have a manual (conversion) and was surprised at the amount of transmission noise I was hearing. The cowling and insulation was either missing or not bolted into place, allowing f...
