Re: headlamp silver
Hi Painter, most of us seem to have problems with these headlamps.I believe that for about £150 just the front section with the silvered surface can be purchased aftermarket. This clips to the main body but you need to make sure that the seal is good.I had water in mine but the burner for the HID lam...

Re: Engine stalled on motorway
Hi Geof , Your model year of XK100 should have been subject to a recall and the fitting of an improved throttle body as earlier version suffered the same symptoms you are having , this was done by Jaguar free of charge but they no longer honour the arrangement , was yours fitted with the upgraded th...

Re: headlamp silver
Hi Painter ,
Re-coating is a problem as it's a special finish
, the finish doesn't affect the dipped beam as it's a projector type , indeed with the HID lamp they are black but it will effect the non projector main beam.
Hope this helps
Nik

Re: Is there such a thing as a manual XK8
Hi Brian , Jaguar did a one off manual themselves complete with a SType rear axle assembly , another company Elite at Derby did a conversion , has since been sold by them and a couple of times on Ebay so I guess it wasn't successful (partly due to the diff ratio being wildly out!!) The good news is ...

Re: Replacement Tyres
Hi Geoff , I've just noticed from your post that your tyres sizes are a bit peculiar :? You should have if they are BBS 255/35X20" fitted to the front on 9.5" rims 285/30X20" fitted to the rear on 10" rims I'd also check that the load rating is correct :o I'm don't know which wheels you have fitted ...

Re: paint codes
Very true Tony , newspaper isn't a replacement for proper masking paper , I now have a very large and wide roll of proper paint shop masking paper , the use of newspaper was pure laziness on my part , I've now moved the masking paper to an accessible part of my workshop :!: The newspaper now goes in...

Re: paint codes
Hi Bill , The peeling and blistering is caused by the lack of etch primer on the alloy sections , rubbing down , careful masking , etch prime , base coat and clear lacquer should sort it , any problems give me a shout and I'll talk you through the process , here is a brief synopsis of the work I did...
