New Alloy Choice
Hi There, I went for 235/50 17, but that was a mistake ! I should have gone for 225. I get a little rub on full lock (only when reversing). I've had to have the rear wheel arches knocked in (they were rubbing). But now (especially becuase of the LPG tank) I get a little grounding out at the rear ove...

Heavy LPG Tank
Hi Guys, I've just had an LPG system fitted. It's brilliant, but now the heavy tank seems to be making the rear end sag a little (I'm also grounding out at the rear occasionally). Are the any stronger rear springs I can have fitted to lift the rear end (an inch, maybe two) ?? Slightly firmer ride is...

Rusty Wheel Arch - best solution
That's great advice, thanks Jonc.
It looks like new too - nice job.
Oh how I curse my incompitence at DIY - It's just that my beloved XJS is NOT the place to start learning
Bigman.
P.S When you post a message, I think there should be an option of body type 'rusty' !!

Hi Patfallon, I tried, but I'm not sure I'm that clever :) Here's another go. Here (I hope) is the after photo :- http://www.jec-xjs-forum.org.uk/xjsbb2/gallery/images/2094_2-1.jpg That's a bit crap, so here's the link :- http://www.jec-xjs-forum.org.uk/cgi-bin/gallery-sl.cgi?pic=2094_2-1.jpg&captio...

Well I finally did it. Thanks for the pointer to imgae wheels. They were a fortune (£1300 !), but putting cheap wheels would ruin all the work I've done trying to 'subtley' update my XJS. BTW 172 wheels transform the handling (from my old 15s). I now no longer have to 'hang on' on fast dual carriage...

Rusty Wheel Arch - best solution
Hi All, My 91, XJS is mostly excellent, but now the rear wheel arches are seriously starting to rust. I believe one side has been replaced and another side is original. Two questions :- 1. I live in Surrey. Can anyone suggest a good body shop ?? Anyone know what I'll have to pay for a repair ?? 2. W...

Thanks a lot for that advice pat. I had a choice of some a while ago, but after a refurb I was well into £700 without the tyres. So I figured, as I really fancy 17 inchers, that new was a better option. I don't mind the pepperpots at all, 'cos they're original Jaguar stylee. I will follow your sugge...

Thanks Steve,
I know KWE well and really like the pepper pots, but £400 a corner is a little rich for me

Hi, I'm very keen to fit 17 inch alloys onto my XJS. But I'm equally keen to keep it looking as standard as possible (15 inch lattice alloys are fitted at the moment). There are two wheels I've found (80s BMW style) that, in a fading light, could pass for lattice alloys :- http://caraudiosecurity.co...

blue flame or aj6 engineering exhaust?
I live nr High Wycombe, if anyone's tempted to come and listen to my 'loud' AJ6 system they're more than welcome. I certainly have found the 'detriment' in cruising is well worth the extra noise at cruising speed. I'm in Cornwall at the moment (after a 5 hour drive) and neither I, nor my wife (less ...

blue flame or aj6 engineering exhaust?
It's late now, but still useful info. I have a 3.6 and bought the full system from AJ6 (at £1000 !). But I was shocked by the difference. It's so much more responsive mid range, I would say it was worth the outlay. AJ6 claim about 15bhp and it feels considerably more than that. I find I hardly have ...
