Bolt of lightning Light?
Can any body tell me what the red warning light with a lightning flash on it is for, mine is on all the time. On my old XJ40 I think it was a fuse failure light (well it lit up when a fuse blew!) I have checked all the fuses and cleaned all the connections in the fuse boxes, but the light still come...

Lynx (other BO bashings sprays available!) will work as an emergency replacement for Easy Start, mind you the exaust gasses wiff like a T**ts Handbag for a few minutes afterwards, don't know how much harm it will do in the long run but as it only ever gets used on a works lorry who cares!!!

off road insurance
Just to add my "tuppence worth" I looked at getting laid up cover for a long term project (Nobel 200 Microcar) a few years back and found that SOME of the policies on offer don't actually cover very much at all. I cancelled a policy with one company after reading the terms, conditions and exclusions...

Wanted Handbook
Does any one have a spare owners handbook for a 1987 3.6. None seem to be about on ebay at the moment. I don't mind if it is a bit tatty as long as it is still readable.

Gas /Petrol tanks
I have not seen it done on an XJS but I have worked on a discovery where the main tank had been removed and a cylinder tank for the gas put in place of it with a 4 gal small petrol tank put in along side. Small petrol tanks are a available from racing suppliers or could be made up by a good metal wo...

Air bag replacement
As far as I know the best before date on air bags does not mean that they become dangerously unstable after this point just that the maker does not gaurrente that they will work as intended after this point, they may or may not deploy when needed. Some cars have a 10 year life on their bags and some...

idle speed control - 2k rpm at idle
Hi there, Can some body please tell me where the idle speed control valve is on a 1986 3.6 man? I can find it on the later 4.0 as the wires to it helpfully say idle on them. There is what looks like a breather hose from the air filter to the manifold in the same place but as there are no wires to it...

Thank you.
I will post photos when I have had a chance to clean her up a bit. I did manage to drive her around the yard yeasterday and a few other minor faults manifested themselves, still nothing that can't be sorted (stiff brakes, leaky rad and 2k rpm at idle) ho hum.

Hi there I have just aquired a rather sad looking 1987 3.6 manual as company for my xj40. She is dark blue with a pale brown interior and has been dormant for nearly four years. The old girl is almost rust free!!! I hope to have her on the road in a few weeks and then gradually tart her up as time a...
