Re: Engine idle speed staying high
Thanks Mike I still have issue. Took another look at the carb linkage. The front carb has a spring that is a failsafe to ensure that the butterfly returns in the event that the connecting linkage comes loose. Well thats what Im assuming.. This front carb return spring seems to be fowling on other pa...

Re: HD6 fuel leak
Hey Guys Thought I should update this earlier post regarding the fuel leaks around the HD6 starter carb and the front float chamber. What cured the leaking was buying new banjo bolts for the starter carb and the smaller banjo on the front HD6 float bowl. And, this is the crucial part, along with the...

Sun Visors
Hi Folks Quick Question. In my MK2 Jaguar the interior was updated prior to my buying it. New headlining etc.. The sun visors also sem to have been re-covered. The finish on the edge of these sun visors is just cloth but I have seen in various pictures other MK2s with sun visors that seem to have a ...

The engine speed sits ...

heater fan speeds
Hi All I have a 1963 MK2 3.4 which has always only had the one speed on the heater fan working. Before I start pulling out the entire heater box to get at the motor I was wondering if it might just be the resistor that is fitted onto the side of the fan motor body. Can anyone give me any advise on h...

Re: 1963 MK2 3.4 not staring
Thanks Alex. I will check and reset the float levels again. Can you explain how the auto choke works? I know that when operated it draws a rich fuel mixture from the float chamber and delivers this into the cylinders. But as it seems to be the front SU connected to the starter Carb does this mean th...

1963 MK2 3.4 not staring
HI guys This is all self inflicted after I messed with my carbs. I will start at the beginning.. My engine was running fairly well, Cold starting is auto with a switch conversion, started fine. The issue was that I would sometimes smell fuel and after checking it appeared the front SU was dumping fu...

Interior cubby box / Arm rest
Hi Folks
Has anyone any idea regarding the cubby box/ arm rest in this picture.
I have seen other Mk2 with the exact same style of box in red.
Cant seem to find any reference to this anywhere.
Thanks

Re: MK2 3.4 engine breaking down when hot
Hi Folks Just a wee update regarding this issue I had with the engine cutting out after a few miles. I am still not quite sure if the engine bay heat was actually contributing to this fault however after much toing and froing I eventually removed all the electronic ignition upgrades including the di...

Re: 123 distributor with Bluetooth adjustment
Hi Alec Thank you for taking the time to look this up for me. You are a star.. I do have one other question though.. In the instructions for fitting the 123 distributor it says to setup static timing on No1 cylinder, but I have been reading a wee bit on the XK 3.4 engine and apparently the static ti...

Re: 123 distributor with Bluetooth adjustment
Hi Alec
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you with the engine number..
I have the Log book and the Engine number on it is KJ6433-8
See what you can do with that .
Hopefully be able to help with some sort of Advance/Vacuum curve..

Re: 123 distributor with Bluetooth adjustment
Thanks Alec, The 123 web site does have a Curve tutorial which I am trying to learn, https://123ignition.com/support/create-curve-tutorial/ The only manual I have is a Haynes manual. There does not seem to be anything in it regarding the advance or vacuum curves, are you referring to a specific work...

123 distributor with Bluetooth adjustment
Hi Folks 1962 mk2 XK 3.4 I have been having issues with the current electronic conversion and after watching a few videos of the new 123 type distributors I decided to take the plunge and buy one. The original 123 distributors seem to have had a pre-set map for the RPM advance range, I think the ide...
