Thanks Jim.
I thought the same!
I will source a suitable wide clamp.
On the subject of parts, I fear it is not just JLR, and not just older vehicles.
A friend of mine recently had his 3 year old Skoda EV off the road for 3 months due to a failed battery cell!

Is this bracket something special?
Hi folks, I was investigating a rattle from under my car - 2005 built XKR-S Coupe. I found that one of the exhaust clamps was broken and had worked its way down the pipe well away from where it should have been. I think this may have been the source of the rattle but I don't know yet. The Jaguar bra...

Hi Jim. Thank you, and nice to hear from you!
That's a good idea and one that I should have thought of!
Many thanks..

windscreen washers slow to start
Hi folks. I have a 2005 built XKR coupe. The windscreen washers, particularly on the driver's side take ages before any water emerges from the jets. I tried blowing air through the jets recently, and I could hear the air blowing through but the screen wash is still pretty pathetic. Does anyone have ...

Re: Where does this come from?
Further update on this. I rang Auto Reserve and the knowledgeable chap I spoke to said that these are a common part that rusts through so they are very hard to find second hand. He said it should be possible to fabricate a bracket so I will look in to that. I doubt that a small weld is viable becaus...

Re: Where does this come from?
Thanks for your detailed reply (as always!). There are a couple of screws etc hanging so I will have another look. I will see if any DTC codes are shown, but as you say, no warning lights are on. Good call about the sensor. I will give AutoReserve a call. It might be fixable with a little weld, but ...

Where does this come from?
Good evening all. I was working in the wheel arch area of my X100 XKR today, busily wire brushing surface rust etc and I must have knocked this little rubber component off from somewhere. It is about 40mmx12mm and looks like a large rubber valve dust cap/ It is ridged for about half of its length an...

Rear damper and spring replacement cost
Hi All.
I want to replace my rear dampers and springs on my 2006 XKR Coupe (X100).
I am debating (with myself) whether to have this done at a garage or by myself at home.
Does anybody have any idea of the number of hours of labour a garage would charge for this work?
Thanks all.

Re: Water ingress
Hi Mike, Thanks for your reply. You are quite right about the holes. I have highlighted one of them. I already tried poking a thin cable tie down this hole on both sides, Probably as expected the side that doesn't leak allowed the cable tie to slide in a long way without problem. On the near (leakin...

Water ingress
Good afternoon all. We attended the Cholmondeley Castle car show on Sunday. Wonderful venue and show normally, but on Sunday the rain was horrendous. On returning to the car I found water dripping down the near side, down between the door and the end of the dash (see yellow trace on the picture) and...

Re: XK8 headlining replacement
A quick update on this from me. I received my new headliner from Headliner World. I found the owner Dejan to be very helpful and the service was great. I would just add a couple of points for possible benefit of others. I found that I was struggling to re-fit the roof console because the cut out was...

Out of date Satnav
I am not sure where best to post this question. I am sure some inventive members of this forum have replaced the obsolete Satnav in their late model X100's with something more useful. I noticed that my old Samsung Galaxy phone was near enough exactly the right size for the aperture. Ideally I would ...

Re: Front seat removal
Thanks again for the reference photos. They came in very handy. So I discovered that my seat only had one of those front mount brackets. The seat has obviously been out and one lost. It's amazing how careless people can be when working on cars. Should I be trying to find a replacement? At the moment...
