Re: 1995 door handle mechanism
Hi David, Are you looking at that piece of metal at the top with its spring? Totally forget about getting a new part. You might have to buy at an auction site a good used complete door handle or get lucky if a JEC member has a spare metal piece and is willing to let you have it. Saying that...I woul...

Re: Starfish Alloy Wheels
Hi Keith, I guess anything is possible down to personal choice. I have seen some chromed (not my taste) or just singly painted a matching eggshell silver. Like my later 20 spoke turbine alloys, I have seen some painted then diamond cut (can't find the Starfish picture), but I think that was not an o...

Re: Some tips on replacing fuel pump on 1995 XJS 4.0 Coupe – Part 5
That’s the way to do it!
Well done Chris, all a great help.
I actually drained my tank 2 years ago and de-vapoured it also.
Pipes were a breeze without the fear of fuel.
Thanks again.

Re: XJS 4.0 Breather on Fuel Tank
This is all very helpful.
I will be taking my tank out in a few weeks time, so will be able to have a better look at it then.
Good luck with your fuel pump as I have two to change for my 6.0.
I must just make sure that I don't strike a lighter under there to see what I am doing.

Re: XJS 4.0 Breather on Fuel Tank
Hi, This is interesting as this is next on my list to go through. I probably would of thought the same as you. Firstly, I do not know the definitive answer, but as you said you tried to suck and blow through it and there are no vapour fumes here, so it must be sealed up for these later models. To pu...

Re: XJS Full body respray
Thanks for that Paul....that name and company noted. I am also going to obtain more info from Karl at Premier Paintwork in Newbury (50 minutes drive from me). If you recall, his company were the guys that did Daren's fantastic flamenco red XJS....so they know what they are doing. My problem is to ge...

Repro Marelli V12 Distributor Caps
Hi, You might already know that original V12 Marelli caps are virtually impossible to buy new, although I have just seen a new original Magneti Marelli Twin Spark Distributor Cap (Genuine NOS) Porsche 911 RSR, 914/6 GT at £1,200.00!! These caps were also fitted to the Ferrari 365 and 400i V12 engine...

Re: XJS Full body respray
I will be very interested in any replies to this, as I am aiming to get my car re-sprayed later in the year. As Jim said, there could be a few variables and some quotes could possibly start from £3000 up to £9000, depending on the work involved. With my car, I would prefer it to be less than £7000 q...

Re: Rear radius arm bushing
Thats great Paul...this is why I like this forum. As I said I have never had a problem adopting the racing enthusiasts 90 degree hole position, but upon reading that article I am going to fit my large poly's as per factory this time. There is still a good bit of tension taken up with these bushes, a...

Re: Rear radius arm bushing
Hi David, I can see where you are coming from. As you said your arms were new a few years ago,its tempting just to get new bushes. There is obviously a lot of stress on these arms and they can deteriorate quickly ,especially after 5 years plus. Many will say stick to Jag Metalastic. I have found ove...

Yes....saw that also on Matthewson's YouTube...blue I think.
I think those 1st facelift cars (1991-93) suffered even worst for rust than the late facelifts, but looks good on the post...as Derek says..." a bit of weekend work."
Probably £5000-£8000? compared to the 1996 6.0 at £16,000.
Good luck.

Re: 1996 6.0 V12 XJS
Hi Richard, Pictures can look nice....that car is a 'carbon-copy' of my car before the start of my rebuild from 2021 to 20?? :D . Great colour and wheels, but not a great fan of the rear spoiler. I can not see much history in the adverts description apart from 3 owners and 62000,so just 'run-in'. Th...

Re: Identity and Function of this Component?
Hello Mr Souter, Yes...indeed you are on the right lines...it is the H/Lamp Dim/Dip Module, part number DAC5322 and is also on my later XJS, but not too sure when they started to use it on other models. I am definitely no auto electrician, but I think when the lights are on normal dim/dip mode, this...

Facelift 6.0 V12 gearbox-engine mounting angle.
Hi, Does anyone know the V12 factory, mounting degree angle? It is the angle in-line from engine front, downwards towards to the IRS diff (6.0 or 5.3 V12). I am making a new bespoke gearbox cross bracket and forgot to record the angle before I sold the old 6.0 standard trans mount. It looks and feel...

Re: Code Reader
Hi, I had a similar thing with my 1995 6.0 coupe and I had a long thread going back in Jan.9th 2021- 'Clearing Memorized Fault Codes'. My model year is 1994.75 ,but was built in June 1994 but registered in August 1995 on a N-plate (I still don't know why the long gap.) As stated in my postings, mine...
