Undertray and spoiler
Hello all, I was in France last weekend and on Friday night got caught in a thunderstorm. So heavy was the rain that the engine almost cut out and I lost the under tray and most of the plastic fittings that attach to the n/s wheel liner. The spoiler itself suffered considerable damage to the undersi...

Re: 1995 door handle mechanism
Hi,
I have taken the handle to two metal fabricators. Its beyond repair.
But, Simply Performance stepped up and sent me two used handles which were in excellent condition. Drivers door will be fitted next week.

Re: 1995 door handle mechanism
Hi Nick,
Yes indeed, thats the piece.
Your wise words are well received. So much so I have found someone who will make me a new piece.
Living in Jersey its very much a case of not what you know rather who.
Thanks again. The forum to the rescue.

1995 door handle mechanism
Hello all, Drivers door handle is broken. After stripping the door handle mechanism and door card I can see the handle is attached to and lifts a small piece of metal that rotates against another part that unlocks the door. Apologies for the technical description...I have no idea what the bits are c...

Re: AJ16 intermittent misfire
I posted the earlier comments on a misfire which I cured with a new fuel pump. More recently I had a re-occurrence of the same problem whilst in France. This time however it was a failing coil pack which I cured by having 6 new coils fitted. Hey presto, runs as smoothly as it should. I now have a fa...

Bordeaux recommendations
Hello all,
The xjs will be taking myself and senior management to Bordeaux in early May. Has anyone any recommendations for accommodation?
Air bnb or good quality hotel with parking please...nothing underground due to clearance issues.
Thanks
David

Re: Angouleme 2025
Hi Jim,
Thanks for the response. I'm in Jersey so ferry's etc are an issue. As it stands currently with the new company as yet to finalise timetables we can't even book a crossing to France for a trip in May.
First world problems.
Merry Crimbo all.
David

Re: Rear radius arm bushing
Thank you gents, Agreed, the forum is the best. As she sits currently, I have the oem bushes up front with Bilstein dampers and the oem Boge dampers at the rear. On refection I will go with oem bushes at the rear too. I priced the poly bushes and was quite surprised at the price difference. As an as...

Hi all, Just got my 1995 4 litre back from the mechanic. New thermostat, water pump, belts, oil and filter, brake pads and handbrake adjustment. He advises me that the rear radius arm bushes are cracked and need replacing. Some advice please, do I replace the arms too and which bushes do I get, oem ...

Re: AJ16 Misfire
So....update on the misfire.. Plugs changed..no difference. Coil changed..no difference. Fuel pump replaced..bingo. Now running like a train. As an aside the mechanic found sand in the bottom of the fuel tank! Not much but it was sitting on the bottom of the tank.We can only think that either someon...

Re: AJ16 Misfire
Hi David, Ive fitted an Andy bracket a few years ago so I hope not. The garage will squeeze me in on Monday to fit the coil and plugs so I'm praying that will do it. As an aside, the head lining is beginning to sag too. Being in Jersey options are limited but I have found a trimmer locally who has d...

Re: AJ16 Misfire
Thanks Paul, The mechanic has checked the pipework as I have and its all good. He has also carried out a smoke test again all good. Ive ordered some bits inc a coil from SNG Barett today. Hopefully that should cure the issue. She still runs like a train after 141k miles and uses no oil. Thanks again...

Re: AJ16 Misfire
Thanks Paul, Unfortunately I'm no mechanic. Garage has checked plug gaps and adjusted them a little but no change. I shall ask him about the oil residue. I will be taking her to France next week. Do you think it will do any harm to drive her? I have followed other threads on similar issues. Thanks f...

AJ16 Misfire
Help, My 1995 Celebration has developed an issue. I left her in to my local garage to have an a/c drier and valve fitted which was done successfully. The car had been showing 760rpm at idle before but subsequently idled at about 700rpm. In neutral she seems to hunt but under load clears and then occ...
