Hi Alec,
The dipstick hole in my block is much too big a diameter for the dipstick ever to be a tight fit. Is there supposed to be a bush or similar to reduce the effective size of the Orifice?

The dipstick on my 3.4 just kind of wobbles about. Can anyone tell me please, is there supposed to be some kind of support bracket that holds the dipstick in situ and, if so, what does it look like and where does it fasten to the engine?

For anyone that is interested I sorted the problem. I thought I would check the valve on the Reservac tank only to find there was no tank fitted to my car!
Having corrected that situation the brake pedal no longer throbs and the braking is much more consistent .
