Stupid me, found the answer to be three hidden screws securing the upper shroud. I didn't think it was going to be secured once the lower shroud was undone.

I would definitely suspect the earth point behind the headlights. Yes, it does tend to snap off if you tighten it, but that's a sign it's no good anyway. I get no response from my starter motor when the ignition is activated nor any sign of a power drop. Is the motor likely to have failed or could it be a earth issue in which case where is the earth that connects the motor, I'm guessing it would be pretty substantial.
