Re: Unrestored 1966 E Type with 30000 miles from new - Should I change the head gasket?
Hey thanks for yours Jimbo. I will discuss. The point is that my mechanic informs that when replacing the gasket there is. tendency to want to check out other engine components and the price becomes X2 or X3. I am under the impression that the E Type 4.2 engine does not require anything done to it t...

Unrestored 1966 E Type with 30000 miles from new - Should I change the head gasket?
My car is a 1966 Series 1 E type. The engine has never been restored and has done 30,000 miles from new. The engine works fine and has no issues to report. I have a question regarding the cylinder head gasket which is 55 years old. Should the head gasket be replaced as a preventative maintenance iss...

Re: XJ12 Series 3 - Noisy first gear around 2000 rpm
Thank you for help Mike. I have quizzed my mechanic regarding the balancing of the prop shaft which to him is a complete mystery. He has concluded that the issue is to be found in the two concentric prop shaft parts which have some rubber in between. I did not go further on the discussion. The vibra...
Re: Tyres, best for E Type Series 2 4.2L
Hi there guys,
has anyone tried the Pirelli P5s on the E Type?
I have found new ones on Ebay for just over £200 each which seems like a great price.
In addition they are more similar aesthetically to the Michelin XWXs than the Pirelli Cinturatos which I believe more suited to a saloon car body type.

Re: XJ12 Series 3 - Noisy first gear around 2000 rpm
All problems with my Daimler Double Six have resolved. Interesting issue. I Sent my gear box to Norfolk Automatics who refurbished the gearbox to as new. Great professionals and sensible prices. When I got the gearbox back the vibrations remained. In desperation I purchased a used prop shaft to repl...

Re: new to E type
Hello there all & Happy New Year, I am looking to purchase a Jaguar E Type Series 2 FHC. I am new to E Types but have read and studied enough to know that the problem with E Types is the rusting from inside to outside with the box sections and the body condition in general. In addition I am also of ...

XJ12 Series 3 - Noisy first gear around 2000 rpm

Before the restoration there was a vibration / small shudder / rumble / whine on first gear around 2000 rpm, after the restoration also. This noise disappear as the revs go ...

Did the "R Performance full suspension and steering pack" ALWAYS include CATS damping (chock Absorbers)?

Which is the right SHOCK ABSORBER for the XK8 (X100)?
Hello, My 2001 model year XK8 (not CATS) requires the original shocks changed both front and back on my car. I have been looking into replacing my shocks with a sportier set to go with my already installed ARDEN (stiffer and lowering 2/3 cm). I cannot understand Bilstein's range even writing to them...

I am very happy to have finally become a member of your fantastic club. I am a lover of all things Jaguar since I was a little boy living in Malta. My Dad says that he found me in 1968 4 years old looking at what I told him was the most beautiful car in the world. It was a new Jaguar XJ6 in brown. S...
