I think i may have mentioned my self repairing XJ-S before well it's done it again! Went out to the garage to check earths again, but before i did thought i would just check if the indicators were working and sure enough all ok now! I can only think that it was an earth problem that too overnight to...

Both rear flashers have stopped working on my 88 3.6. Front and repeaters work ok and also when hazards on, but rears not at all. From what i can see the only fuses cover all flashers so presumably not that?

Any ideas gratefully accepted!

I replaced mine with Falkens as someone else suggested. Though 225 instead of 235, KWE said that the newer compounds made up for the smaller (slightly) size and after 9000 miles i have been happy with them. Also good value as i got 5 for GBP 450 fitted from Halfords.

David, i thought rather than putting it off i'd do it straight away, so i've taken a few photos and written an article for you this morning: i'll e-mail them to you.

Hi again David. Brilliant diagnosis. As you say an easy job, no leaks and the tickover issue appears sorted. It's been irritating me for ages, but the fault finding section of the manual implied there were loads of things i needed to check and so i kept putting it off! Lesson learned

David: i ordered a genuine Jaguar sensor from SNG Barratt, it was about £40. However the workshop manual says to use "appropriate sealant" on the threads, presumably to stop leaks? Which would you reccomend? or is it really needed?

Hi David. Would that affect the fuel consumption much as i'm still getting about 30mpg! How expensive/easy to fit are these sensors if they need replacing?

My 1988 3.6 idles fine when cold, but as it warms up the idle becomes progressively worse until if stuck in a traffic jam the car ticks over very lumpily and almost stalls. What do you think is causing this problem?

Yes that's what i was going to do by extending the bolts upwards, but it looks good as is. In any case i don't think you can drill tempered glass without special equipment which again would have put up the price.

Paul, yes it's taken me a while to get round to it but i'm glad i did. At the moment glass is just resting on it as i'm not leaving it on over winter. Originally i was going to have holes through the top into the wheel holes. However my firnd did such a good job milling the spacers in the wheel that...
