Re: Fibre optic light source
I recon LEDs are better as you say they give off hardly any heat and draw hardly any current, also there are bi colour and tri colour I think and depending on the voltage applied they can be made to display a different colour (might be interesting). Not to sure how they would react with the dimmer c...

Re: DIY headliner installation.
Looks a very neat/tidy job, that job for me is a long way off at the moment, bodywork needed first. What did you use to remove the remains of the old lining/foam from the biscuit roof panel????

Re: 29 years of the dreaded tin worm
My repairs at the moment are on the rear drivers side wing. The previous owner had had a repair wing fitted (from body crease line down) but I think there were 4 guys fitting it called 'weldit' 'sodit' 'bodgeit' n 'fillit'. They had tucked the repair wing under the original (which is ok) but they th...

Re: Rusty Wheel Arch - best solution
There are repair wings around that you can remove the section that you require, they run from the 'B' post (just behind the door) to the rear lamp and from the sill up to just above the body line crease. Full Jaguar replacement wings include the rear light box panels and the boot seal lip and the fu...

Re: XJS roof lining
I've not done this job as yet on my XJS but have read lots on the subject, the main key to a good result is the cleaning of the the old panel/biscuit to get rid of the remnants of the foam, otherwise it'll just sag again.

Panhard rods and anti tramp bars
As far as I know - Panhard rods are used to stop the axle shifting left to right or right to left under the car, I doubt the Jaguar IRS would suffer from this really.
Anti tramp bars are for stopping spring wind up/twist on leaf spring rear suspension cars, again the Jaguar IRS doesn't need them.

Re: Radius arms and bushes
I wish i was rich and could have a mechanic do these things  Ah yes but just imagine how much fun you'd miss out on eh???? ha ha I just cut the outer rim of the bush as mentioned above and they came out easy, pressed the new ones in with a vice at work. Oh and which way will you put the new b...

It's beating me
Are you sure fuel is there and the correct pressure? Not sure on the 3.6 but the early V12s are known to suffer from 'hot start' problems. Nothing wrong with the pumps but the fuel can tend to evaporate in the lines near the engine when left hot after a run. The overnight standing might be the 'non ...

29 years of the dreaded tin worm
Well it's getting brighter and warmer outside , time to get in the garage and spark up the old welder.
More bodywork pics coming soon.
A big push to get it MOT'd this summer.
Gonna have to be a first time pass or i'll not be happy

what a shock!
If you really want fast/hard cornering and a firm ride then uprate the shocks and springs, but don't forget that your original springs/shocks (if original) will be softer and will have sagged a little, so the change would be quite dramatic. Don't forget to check radius arm bushings and the rear cage...

Wheels - how big can you go & what fits?
Yes going up in rim dia and to lower profile tyres will stiffen the ride, obviously it's up to the owner as to if it'll be ok. Handling in corners will be improved a lot BUT it's a lot of money wasted if it's not liked afterwards. Best bet if poss is to have a ride in one with a similar set up. My d...

Power drain!!!!
Just reading your post again, where are you getting these current drain figures from? You will have a permanent drain from any permanent live items eg:- clock / alarm / computers if any and battery should cope with these if they are drawing what they should. As I said in my previous post I think the...

Power drain!!!!
A few thoughts 1 - throw matches away 2 - has the car got an alarm system? might be a fault there. 3 - I think the electric aerial/relay can cause a drain if faulty, try to disconnect it too. 4 - I'm sure through a sequence of deduction an auto electrician would be able to test for and find a curren...
