Re: Battery drain
Tks for confirmation Mike; it's tempting (but often wrong!) to be persuaded that what holds for the X-100s will be the same for the X-150s. The C2D47174 is the right one for the age and serial number of my 2009 5.0l vehicle, (source-Jaguar main dealer); but it does supercede an earlier quoted C2D181...

Re: Battery drain
I will be very glad to be corrected (or get confirmaton :) ) on this, but just to say the that the siting of the secondary security alarm is quite different on the X-100 XK8s and the X-150 XKs. On the X-100 XK8s it is sited to the left of the foglamp and I believe quite easily accessed by removal of...

Re: Gear Selector Knob Top Trim Piece
:) Glad to report that I was able to carefully prise the badly scratched top trim piece off the rising/rotating gear knob on the XK. Technique employed was gentle digging and prising on the edge of the trim piece feeling the recess into which it sits with the tip and edge of a Stanley knife blade. A...

Re: Gear Selector Knob Top Trim Piece
Thanks Mike, will give it a try. I can see that the knob itself needs protecting (thin card of plastic?) whilst levering with a blade.

Gear Selector Knob Top Trim Piece
On my 2009 XK the rising/rotating gear knob has a very badly scratched top trim piece
. I believe the trim disc can be removed for cleaning or replacement...
Any advice on best way to carefully prise it off?

Re: Convertible rectangular hatch opening
Thanks very much Jim. If I proceed I realise I need to go with caution. I was hoping to avoid ANY hood intervention, (although, rather counter intuitively, I notice that the sliding flap is regarded under Ch501-05: Interior Trim and Ornamentaion in the 4,000page+ Workshop Manual rather than under th...

Re: Convertible rectangular hatch opening
Thanks Mike. As far as I can see there is not actually a broken or missing component. Rather the wire that is connected to the spring/pump that activates the rear trim moving plate has come adrift from the wheel on the part of the hinge that it is looped onto. I can see the crimp that allows the end...

Convertible rectangular hatch opening
On my 2009 XK convertible, whilst the opening and closing of the hood are operating correctly, after my latest short trip the rectangular shaped hatch that is pulled open to take the parts of the hood as it folds backwards remains open, (as there is a cable which has come adrift/parted). Hope the pi...

XK (2009) Rear window heater
I fear the rear window heater on my 2009 XK convertible is not coming on... I've checked the fuse (30A No.23) in the rear seat compartment fuse box and it's fine. As there has previously been work done on the folding roof, I'm wondering if the connector to the rear screen heater has not been properl...

Re: Engine Undertray
Mmmm, just re-reading Mikes previous note after posting the above. Mike's note states "there were three different undertrays fitted to the 5.0litre cars". I took that to mean there were three different undertrays, (but at each instance just 1 undertray), fitted during the time-span of the 5.0litre c...

Re: Engine Undertray
:D New engine undertray now happily fitted the other week after renewal of transmission fluid and sump and filter renewal. The attached pic is not very clear but is from underneath, looking from the rear to the front of the car. The newly fitted engine undertray(middle of pic) and the new, black, ri...

Re: Transmission Fluid -How many litres 5.0 litre XK
Richard/Paul, Tks for your comments, appreciated. (Yes sump pan, (which was renewed-see pic) has two magnets)). There was a small amount of very fine "dust" around each of the two magnets on the sump pan that came off. I had been aware of the 'flushing' versus 'drain and filter replace' choices; pro...
