Re: Gearbox flush
The gearbox filler plug is on the rh side of the gearbox casing - needs an allen key, but space is very tight - don't even think of removing this without the engine running or you will be covered in transmission fluid! The drain plug is on the bottom of the gearbox sump - which is also the filter (...

Re: Gearbox flush
I was asking about the old fluid removal via the filler because someone somewhere told me ( on FB page I think ) there there was no drain plug. Now that it's clear that there is, and if I'm interpretingthe workshop manual correctly, then replacing the ( bulk of ) the trans oil is no different from a...

Re: Gearbox flush
Check what the manual has to say about refitting the gearbox filler plug... "Using the special tool and a torque wrench, tighten the transmission fluid filler plug. • Tighten the transmission fluid filler plug to the torque given by the calculation. • To make sure the transmission filler plug is tor...

Re: Gearbox flush
Given that the full flush and new sump and all looks like over 500quid, I'll not be doing that to my one grand, 100k car..but I guess it's probably worth changing the fluid ... or at least what of it I can get out...which begs the question, can the bulk of the fluid be sucked out via the filler hole...

Incredibly I have literally this very minute come off the phone from Eurocarparts saying they have no idea who Arnotts is and they DO NOT supply these parts! Now I'm looking at the listing...

Re: X350/8 Air suspension unit replacement option.
Thoughts..... ... Replacing the compressor ring has turned off the intermittent :D 'air suspension fault' light .... But the intermittent DSC not available light is back..... Codes reveal nothing, no wheel speed sensor issues... Nothing. It occured to me that a failure of one of the accelerometers s...

Dsc fault
Did have intermittent air suspension fault code, and intermittent 'DSC not available'.... Feeling was that the dsc fault was related to suspension fault... But replacing compressor piston ring seems to be have removed suspension fat warning, but DSC not available is back. Reading codes reveals nothi...

Re: X350/8 Air suspension unit replacement option.
Really useful, thanks , and reassuring to know that the car still drives nicely ( why wouldn't it!) Still a pretty expensive solution given that coilovers for an X300 were about 300 quid a pair! It's a pain for me 'cos the car's an older slightly tatty car . so is it worth spending over a grand on ...

Re: X350/8 Air suspension unit replacement option.
J44EAG .. you said earlier " It may also be VIN identifier critical. The X350 revision from the early cars went from G49700 to the last of the X358 models" with regard to replacing air struts with coilovers. Have you heard of coilover replacements not extinguishing the 'Air Suspension Fault ' light ...

Idiots like me providing distraction from back pain? You're welcome !! :D Seriously though, hope you improve quickly... Well, every day's a school day.... I did go looking for a positive terminal in the engine bay, there must be one somewhere but it eluded me...so..... Cut and shut the earth lead on...

Boot ( trunk ) access
Well, I think I've shot myself in the foot. I bought a very cheap 350 but I think it's a dud..there's too many suspicious things? But the latest problem is precipitated by me. The car came with one key and a fob that doesn't work... I was gonna deal with that later ....meantime, I left the key in th...

Re: X350/8 Air suspension unit replacement option.
sorry to drag this back to the start, but I'm a bit unclear about how to diagnose the order of failure between the struts themselves and the pump? If the pump's running all the time ( How do we tell ?) then that could be 'cos there's a leak ( Which we maybe can't find ) of 'cos the pump is tired. Ho...
