Axle Stands.
What I did was shape a piece of wood (dimensions in Haynes Manual) and put under the diff cage and jack it up from there, then get the axle stands under the jacking points. Then put another piece in (shaped but thicker) and jack up again and adjust the axle stands. doing it this way, I can get the w...

Tesco Insurance TV Ad.
Yes the Tesco ad exists Yes the Georgeous campaign sucks and yes Tesco's finest unleaded silicone, sorry petrol can screw you over in ways the chancellor can only dream of and I don't actually think it is covered by their insurance as you have to deal with a specific department for this. Grrrrrr :tw...

God Bless Gordon
What Uncle Gordon and the rest of his highway men haven't realized is that the earth has heated up and cooled down on its own in the past and will do so again and again. I do understand the desire to remove all these 4x4's from the roads for the school run in particular but empathise with the mother...

Air bag replacement
A car manufacturer is only duty bound and obliged to supply FULL spares and parts for a vehicle for 10 years after the end of production.
When I was at T****a, we were still pressing panels and interior parts for the Carina E in march of last year.

headlining abuse
Ok may be a little late here but here goes anyway. Let me say however that I was fortunate in that my backing board and the thin foam (do all cars have this assembly) were in salvageable condition When my headliner went south (literally), this is what I did, 1) strip the interior seats and carpet (g...

Dashboard and switchgear illumination
I bought a set of six multi led bulbs for the dashboard from a guy in the us on ebay called V12s. They've worked a treat. for the fibre optic unit, have a look at maplin or as previously mentioned RS components. However I have noticed that ripspeed in the larger Halfords have quite a few LED bulbs a...

Re these brittle little clips. I assume you mean the white ones. You could try Frost or Europa but i went to my local model shop and bought some thin brass and made them and packed them with cut tube. Don't think you don't need them, the cross pipe is about seventy quid and needs supporting other th...

Cooling system top up and anti freeze ratio 1988 V12
My computers gone wibble and i can't access my cd roms. I gather that both rad caps are 16 psi from looking at other posts but can anyone tell me what water / antifreeze ratio to use and how to refill the system. Also am i correct in assuming that one shouldn't use Barrs Leak or similar? Thanks,

Best engine in the world (V12 / Aj16 / Merlin...)
A ton and a half of rust and filler masquerading as a 1972 Pontiac firebird. Then there was the axle swap and narrowing to hold the damm thing on the road. oh halcyon days indeed!

Best engine in the world (V12 / Aj16 / Merlin...)
Not the best engine but certainly the most potent I had in a road car was a 455 c.i. Chevy, bored, stroked with nitrided crank, 300 bhp Cheater Nitrous injection, GMC 4000 supercharger and a pair of Holley 600cfm double pumpers with an Ibrok tunnel ram manifold with the whole lot exiting through 4-2...
I don't think you're off track at all! I think that this is having the desired effect, If you read Pauls very clear and concise thread in the general forum, you'll see (and yes paul, I did read to the end) that we can be assured the forum we want but the direction has to come from ourselves. I don't...
Good idea Pop I think it would be a good idea for the forum to be split into generic areas appertaining to all models but also sections dedicated to the various models, ie, pre HE, HE, Cabrio, Convertable, 3.6, 4.0, 6.0, xjrs (do we have any lynx eventers?) Then maybe we could look at a parts interc...
