Thanks Paul - I seem to no longer get emails when there is a topic reply so I missed your response. However, they are now stuck back and I will see how it goes (don't often have passengers in the Cabriolet!).

Gas Recharge
Hi all - had my aircon gas changed from R12 to R437a by KWE back in 2019 and now need a recharge but can't find the gas anywhere! Anybody know of a source in Wilshire/Berkshire or thereabouts?

Re: Passenger Quarter Panel Arm rest
An update.....Started working around the arm rest with a trim removal tool and found I could push it between the underside of the armrest and the seating on the body card thinking it might release any glue that might hold the arm rest in position. The started heaving - no movement. Did this for a wh...

Passenger Quarter Panel Arm rest
Having only just passed the MOT because of frayed passenger seat belts I need to fix them. The ROM has the appropriate entry but I am stumped by how to 'lift off' the arm rests. I have tried a hefty pull but they stay firmly in place so before I destroy them with even more force  I thought I ...

Re: 1985 XJ-SC Fog Light Installation
Thanks for the input, guys. - it looks like my main light switch has no provision for front fogs and it is the one shown in the Parts Catalogue for the XJ-SC HE V12: light switch.jpg - Positions are: 1. Off 2. Side 3. Headlights 4 . Push and turn for Rear Fogs - have consulted Harvey Palm but it all...

Re: 1985 XJ-SC Fog Light Installation
Thanks Paul - there is only one position on the main light switch where the central knob can be pulled out and that works the rear fogs. In this position there is no power on the front fog feed - the red/yellow wire under the front bumper. Still looking!

Re: 1985 XJ-SC Fog Light Installation
Thanks Poprivet - Mine is an '85 V12 HE Cabriolet so I would think that, layout-wise, they should both the same (unless the V12 is different!). I couldn't see any relays around the fuses under the passenger dash so will have a look into the fuse location on the drivers side. But why would Jaguar hav...

Re: 1985 XJ-SC Fog Light Installation
This all got put on the back-burner (nice to have bit not essential!) but I have just re-kindled my interest to sort out once and for all. According to the circuit diagram in the XJS Repair Operation Manual, if front fog lights were installed (they were an option) they were wired into a red/yellow w...

Re: The new E10 fuel
Jim, what I have been lacking in connection with ethanol in fuel is some form of qualified, as opposed to anecdotal, references. In other words, what has happened as opposed to what could happen. I have to confess that I have only read items that have just 'come across the desk' ie picked up because...

Re: The new E10 fuel
Thanks Jimbo, If France has been using E10 since 2011 without there being major reports of fuel-related failures then that is good empirical evidence indeed - especially as you have personal experience and it must have been used in older vehicles as well. Now I am wondering if the issue has been ove...

Re: The new E10 fuel
Hi All, I have been running my 1985 V12 XJ-SC on high octane, ethanol free petrol for several years (Esso)- no problems. With the advent of E10 I thought I would do a round-up of all high octane petrol to check which will now be ethanol-free. So far, only Esso have confirmed that their high octane E...

Re: 1985 XJ-SC Fog Light Installation
Hi Lastmin. Thanks for that suggestion....you sometimes just need a different perspective! Of course!
That relay is in the passenger footwell and the feed side should always be live with ignition 'on' and have the current carrying capacity. Thanks again for the pointer

1985 XJ-SC Fog Light Installation
Hi All - I installed a pair of genuine Jaguar Fog/Spot Lights a while back and left them unconnected because I couldn't find anything on the loom to match the sockets on the lights! I have decided that I will now connect them to be switched totally separate from the loom ie fused 12volt supply of su...

Re: Instrument Panel Compatibility
Thanks for the insight. I should have said circa 1986 ie pre facelift. Did the facelift models stop using the dreaded 'barrel' gauges for temp, oil etc?

Instrument Panel Compatibility
Hi all - does anybody know if the 3.6L/4.0L instrument panel (connections/instruments/fixings) is compatible with the V12, please?
