Are there any formal or in-formal arrangements for Jaguars/XJS at the Silverstone Classic event?
I see Bucks and Herts region are arranging a "Hospitality suite" for Sunday, but is there any other options for the other days, like simply parking with other jaguars?

Removing auto box from engine
I could not help but think this noise might be from the gearbox mounting towards the rear of the box. If the spring is weak or broken, or the rubbers perished then mechanical noises get easily transmitted. Maybe worth checking?

Cooling system top up and anti freeze ratio 1988 V12
Hi Richard, "55% concentration (5 parts Anti-freeze to 4 parts water)" Also, interestingly, "Radiator leak inhibitor (Jaguar Part No 12953) - 14-oz container per car." whatever that means? I think there should be 2 types of radiator cap; one 16PSI and one 20PSI, the 20PSI at the front and 16PSI on t...

Hints and tips for the fuel system
Those filters look the business, bad luck about the different connections though! No problem. I've taken some time to plan out the connection diagram, it's looking good. Hope this helps. http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w106/cya266x/pfilters.jpg In the mean time I have just replaced my filter, it ...

The perfect gift, I suppose your Jaguar is being hoovered right now. So, what did you get from Ma rivet? A credit card bill? A pot of gloss white paint? Maybe the lawn mowers blades are being sharpened?

window leaks
Just had a quick look at the workshop manual and YES the door glass is adjustable, both horizontally and vertically. I have to say I'm disappointed to hear the "restorer's" response. I would have been tempted to mistype the sentence "they have no idea how to align the window", and accidentally miss ...

Pop, You wrote "One modification I will be making soon is to remove the gauze strainer and plumb in one of those plastic see-through fuel filters in the rubber tubing before the fuel pump." Did you get round to doing this? Was it successful? You may have guessed I have a noisy pump (just filled the ...

F1 2007 Predictions?
So, to change the subject, which I think I'm allowed to do in this part of the forum; I'm looking forward to the start of the F1 season and my predictions are. World Champion - Kimi (just) Jenson - maybe 3rd/4th David C - will be on the podium at least once Mark Webber - will have a strop, be brilli...

"The Price of Fish"
Hmmm; Off-Topic-Subjects... OTS, Open Top Sports, Over Taxed Section, Over The S... I like "The Price of Fish" or "What do you think of the Weather?" or "Gordon Bennet!" or "A load of nonsense" or "Everything Else" or "Nothing to do with Oily bits" or "You wont find it here". So, to change the subje...

I'm wondering if this could be castor angle. Because, if I have read your note correctly, the only thing you have not done is change the bottom front bushes and checked the castor angle. Also, I'm assuming that the amount of pull is the same if braking or accelerating? There are spacers either side ...

Wow, thanks to every body for your help. Mark, thanks for pointing out that there are different carbons used in motors. The brushes measure; 1/4" x 5/16" x 3/8" (I have to guess the length at 3/8" because they are completely worn down). That's 6.3x7.8x9.5 in mm. I think I will try Martin Robe...
