Droopy headlining
I have found copydex works well, although that was on headlining that had come away from the biscuit, I would imagine that on yours the headlining material will have parted company with the fibre backing. Still, might be worth a shot. You shouldn't have to remove the headlining altogether, as you sa...

Vehicle servicing utility
Unfortunately this doesn't do the servicing for you! If you are bad at / hate having to write down what service items are due on your car then this could be of use to you. Just enter the car reg, whats due and when (in terms of mileage, time or both). Then save the record. Enter the current mileage ...

I think it possible but unlikely. If you do get one, personally I would contest it. Firstly, there is some dodgy legislation that goes along the lines of that the NIP is issued without first cautioning you, this apparently makes your testimony inadmissable as evidence in court. There are a few websi...

I know the air conditioning systems in these cars can be prone to problems but isn't that taking things to extremes?

Re: Air Con service/top up
Really the only option is to drop in R134 and a new drier. It worked well for me. Nick, you are not correct about that. As several people including myself have already mentioned there are refrigerants around which are a direct substitute for R12. One of these is RS24 but there are others. It is a l...

XJS 4.0, engine idles on cold, but slowly dies if warm
Sounds like its running rich then. I assume the fumes are black rather than blue. Is there any smoke when driving? I think as you say the temp sensor could be a possibility. If it didn't drive nice I would have suspected the air flow meter. The throttle bypass valve could possibly be at fault, this ...

Air Con gas Recharge
I would just like to clarify that R134a is NOT an acceptable substitute in an R12 system. There are a couple of correct gases to use, one of these is RS-24. I do hope your garage is not simply saying that your valves need replacing because they are the old R12 type. It is quite possible to get adapt...

Receiver-Dryer autopsy
On my XJS I installed a switch which permitted me to have fresh air but without the air con running. As pop says, if the cooling requirement became too great, the delanair would go into recirc mode, thus defeating the object. So I added another switch which disables the recirc solenoid

Historic Vehicle Tax
We're all kidding ourselves if we think the government really cares about the environment. The scientific link between CO2 emissions and global warming is SERIOUSLY shaky and I doubt that the Government believe it themselves. Even if it were true, the UK's contribution is tiny. Its just a convenient...

Fitting Speedline Wheels
I never investigated the 'lock stops' further as the 19mm offset wheels seemed to fit fine.
However the wheel / tyre combination with my squidgy original steering bushes made the car tramline so badly it was no fun to drive. And that was the end of my speedlines.

Change of radio
The first thing to do is pull off the heater control knobs. Under there are a couple of lock nuts, which can be undone by using a couple of small flat bladed screwdrivers. Once they're out, the radio surround panel can be eased forward. The radio bracket is secured using 4 screws or rivets, obviousl...

You might possibly have some success by making a small hole and syringing some glue in - although due to the nature of the problem its more than likely it will just make a mess, maybe worth a shot as your only other option is retrimming. Rather than it being the lining that comes away from the roof,...
petrol
No fair - my local tesco still only sells crappy 97. What is the premium in price for the super duper 99? They said is was going to be ~4p. Is that true? Heres an interesting one that goes against the usual reports - my XJS did not like the petrol from my local Shell garage, it was very definitely m...
