Because we sort of fall between two regions we don't get greatly involved with either, but it's still a good idea. Thank you.If your post fails to get a response, try contacting your local Region. Most are very helpful dealing with such requests. Mike.

Drive in an XK8 (X150) 4.2 convertible
We currently own a 2001 XK8 4.0 coupe and an MX5 Mk2 convertible. We need to cut down our fleet of cars and thought of 'combining' the two into an XK8 convertible, whilst taking the opportunity to get a slightly newer car, hence the X150 model. As we prefer comfort and a more relaxed drive we would ...

Re: 1998 XK8 Convertible Rear View Mirror
Study the pictures to work out exactly which way you are sliding the mirror and you will find it isn't as bad as you think. Good luck.

Re: 1998 XK8 Convertible Rear View Mirror
I swapped the rear view mirror on my Discovery 2 and it was a very similar setup. I remember squirting some WD40 or spray grease into the bracket as best I could which helped it slide off.

Re: Tyres
Linda,
It would be helpful to know which car you are referring to, what wheel and tyre sizes you currently have and which Goodyear tyres you are looking at.

Re: No dash, no start
Since you don't use the car that much then rather than giving the battery an 'occasional charge' I would leave the CTEK attached whenever the car is parked up if you are able to do so. This means the battery is kept in top condition ready for when you take it out. Certainly that is what I do with my...

David Marks always put 5W30 in my 2001 4.0L (Shell Helix Ultra Professional AF 5W30 the last couple of times).

Re: Leaving Battery Disconnected
I guess it depends on what type of charger you have. If it is an old style trickle charger then I think you are right to disconnect it. If it is a modern maintenance charger then you can leave it connected all the time. I use a CTEK MXS 5.0 on my 2001 XK8 and leave it connected year round, only disc...

Re: Replacing Diff Oil
Yes, take your car to be serviced somewhere where they have a vague idea what they are doing. I would have the rear diff oil changed at least every 70K miles.
I refer to my previous post regarding David Marks.

Re: Service schedule
Do you have in writing, from a suitably authorised person, about the warranty being okay? If so then I would run it past the insurance people just to check they are as happy with it as the dealer appears to be (and get it confirmed in an e-mail). If you don't have it in writing then it didn't happen...

Unless the car is being used regularly I always put it on the smart charger when I park it up.

Re: Vin decode please
The Jaguar Enthusiast Club magazine had a piece on this in the November 2018 edition. I can't attach the PDF file unfortunately so I have attached a couple of screen shots with the key information. Edited to include better screen shots, although it won't allow me to attach a 4th screen shot of the 1...
