Re: Chrome effect seat adjustment buttons XKR
My 2004 XKR has rather classy looking plastic seat adjustment buttons in the same colour as the seat upholstery which is "cream". Its a bit late to post this unless you are still hunting around the breakers yards etc. I have an irritating issue with my front seats which were obviously designed to ac...

Re: Sticky control buttons and switch surrounds.
My 2004 XKR suffers similar probs during winter months when she seldom ventures out from her dry warm garage. Today I lifted the bonnet to check for any condensation and noticed the under-bonnet sound-proof lining was going mouldy. I decided to spray the lining with wet-and-forget, a product I mainl...

Re: Filling Fuel Tank Issues 2010 XKR
Just for the record my 2004 XKR I bought 4 years ago experiences the same problem. Its not often I tank up but yes the problem occurs every time so I restrict the pump flow to avoid spillage. Its not a big issue, just mildly irritating so I have learnt to play the game without stressing. I shall on ...

Re: Please point me to Electrification Conversion information and discussion.
Many thanks Paul for all the leads you are suggesting. I have kept the last 2 or 3 years of mags, don't always find time to read them cover to cover but will now hunt out your articles with great interest, also any uTube coverage. The current situation in sleepy Cornwall for new BEV purchases seems ...

Re: Please point me to Electrification Conversion information and discussion.
Thank you for the links steve_m. I imagine that battery weight could weigh very heavily indeed upon the broad stated conversion cost estimates, even without uprating brakes to cope with additional battery weight loading. Its probably unlikely that lead/acid batteries would be the way to go. I can vi...

Please point me to Electrification Conversion information and discussion.
Can anyone point me to forums or classic car magazines which discuss what can be done once the emissions regulations are introduced to upgrade the internal combustion engine. My understanding is the new regs will be introduced early in the New Year? I have a superb condition XKR which I presume will...

Re: Can nobody keep to their side of the road these days?!
Sounds like you did well DaveO! Apart from the financial hit and the stress, overall it will have done you good. I remember Osselli. I think my older Brother was lusting after some of your conversion parts back in the 70's Andrew You're right Andrew, I am a very careful driver now. Its extraordinar...

Re: Can nobody keep to their side of the road these days?!
At age 78 my main concern is hanging onto my driving licence. In December 2020 I was carved up by a young mother obviously in a hurry to deliver her young kids to school at 9.00 am in the morning. Fortunately I was not in the XKR so my Freelander took the bump from her, trying to overtake me on the ...

Re: Headlining replacement
I had my XKR headlining replaced by G&D Motors, Falmouth 2years ago. Cost was £150 for the trim + £47.50 to remove and refit + vat = £351 total. I asked the same question as you and even considered attempting to re-glue the original lining to the foam backing, which in retrospect after seeing the ol...

Re: XK8 Battery charging and jumping video
Useful video--thanks! I stupidly managed to purchase a charger/conditioner of only 1.2amp output for my XKR which recently went flat just sitting in a warm garage, all systems static in so far as they can be. The battery (Vanta) looks pretty new. 1.2 amp charge to the 90 Ah battery would take 90 hrs...

Re: Should my steering wheel buttons be illuminated?
here we go again......... BB Wassat? I'm interested in this one as it amazes me how crude is the 2004 XKR I purchased as compared to Jaguars I owned back in the 70's, 80's. I mean even the darned clock is insufficiently illuminated. Driving at night is quite a challenge seeing what I need to see in...

Good Bodyshop in Cornwall
I can recommend Spray Tech in Penryn, TR10 9EP. Their phone number is 01326 378520. Trouble with living in beautiful Cornwall is many of the roads are extremely narrow with high Cornish hedges which are often overgrown awaiting attention from landowners, many of whom are farmers! Since acquiring my ...
