Re: Intermittent Sticky J gate
I have this issue and that has been the case for several years. The problem usually occurs if I`ve not used the car for a while and battery voltage is low. The secret is simply to push the selector lever over to the left whilst it is in "Park" and hold it in that position until you feel a small and...

Intermittent Sticky J gate
I recently purchased my first X350 and I'm very much enjoying the experience, but just one small thing is annoying me a little. Occasionally, the shifter is hard to get out of P - once it's out of P, it moves through the gate with ease. It takes a few attempts before it eventually comes out of P - t...

If you're located in the South East, I highly recommend Turner Classics of Manston, Kent.
Fantastic and not all that expensive either.

Re: New Daily smoker!
The primary and secondary TIMING drive within the front cover are chain driven. You will have the final generation of METAL tensioners which give no trouble at all. Only the earlier 4.0 litre and 3.2 V8 had the dreadful plastic tensioners which could disintegrate. On the X350/8 models, the 3.5 and ...

Re: New Daily smoker!
Thanks for the advice, Mike very helpful. I must admit I am wading into unchartered waters with this, so it's great to have some reassurance. It was fitted with a new suspension compressor at 102k, with receipts provided. As for the gearbox, I'm having that serviced at SE Jags on Friday. As for driv...

New Daily smoker!
In a lapse of judgement back in July, I sold my lovely Daimler V8, my daily car. For some bizarre reason which I can't even fathom myself, I bought a Mk3 Granada (currently on Ebay for sale may I add! :D ) I'm glad to report normal business has resumed! Here's the new daily smoker, a 3.5 SE in Zirco...

1999 Daimler V8 N/A
I've decided to part ways with my 99 Daimler, so I can put some more cash into little jobs on my XJ40. It's been my daily driver since February and has been a fantastic first X308 to own. The Car was originally supplied by HA Fox of Norwich and was then traded into Wyn Thomas Jaguar of Epping. Wyn T...

Re: Random Gearbox fault PO706
Thanks Andy, that's great.
Two questions, where is the connector on the transmission located and is it accessible without lifting the car? (I don't have a jack)
Secondly, is the J gate assembly/ski slope the same to remove as the XJ40, as i have done that several times before.

Random Gearbox fault PO706
Hi all, been having an issue with my 99 Daimler V8, 92500 miles. Had a gearbox fault warning come up on dashboard every now and then, limp mode etc. Usually turning the car on and off again sorts it out and all is well. Old battery was tired so I fitted a new one, all seemed okay. In the last two da...
