did you try lifting the brake pedal ? with engine off, get your head down near the pedal box depress and lift the brake pedal and you should hear it 'click'. if you hear it 'click' when lifted up then micro switch is ok. try it out on the road, if it doesn't work lift the brake pedal with your foot ...

sorry to hear of your problems. I perfectly understand your comments about jags. fortunately my 87 Daimler (xj40) starts first time and runs like a dream with wonderful suspension. I've had issues with a knackered battery, cruise control not working, high indicated oil pressure, fish tank headlight ...

I have an 87' Daimler xj40 and when I drive that I feel wonderfully relaxed. self levelling suspension etc. I feel you have to drive a modern car every day to really respect and understand how good our jags (and Daimlers) are

i have a double garage full of c**p and so I am unable to put my xj40 inside for winter. brake pedal micro switch is the problem. lift the pedal with my foot and cruise control works every time. adjustment needed

had a theory. I lifted the brake pedal hard with my foot whilst driving along and seem to have got it working. brake pedal switch adjustment (when my current back and hip pain ease's off a bit)

out on a run today and cruise control worked 3 times !.
turned it off and tried again and it didn't work. think it maybe the switch as it doesn't seem right.

I have an 87 Daimler xj40 with sunroof and I've been quoted £850+ for a replacement head lining (supply and fit). seems a bit excessive.

thanks mike. it seems the rear manifold is the one that cracks most. pity they stopped making it
