... My greater concern at the moment is hardening seals in the gearbox presenting in a harsh first to second shift unless I lift. Try chucking a tin of Wynn's into the gearbox - or rather, it's contents. I've just done this myself today for the same harsh 1st to 2nd issue, will see what happens!

Tris, The dirty ATF will have about 18% of the original fluid diluted in it. However, it does seem quite dirty, although it's difficult to see in the opaque containers. Could you pour some dirty and clean fluids into clear glasses so we can see the difference? Paul Ok, here's the result of change 7...

Here's the result of today's ATF change, No.4 - Still going in strawberry and coming out chocolate!
1st to 2nd can still be a little jerky but doesn't seem quite so harsh now.

I think it made things a little bit smoother but it's still mainly old fluid in the system. I'll report back after a couple more changes.

I did the first fluid change today and yes, it really needs doing! Second change pencilled in for tomorrow.

... Probably like me ,you've been looking on the internet and there is plenty of information about these Bilstein B6 Sport/Performance shocks and how good they are. I noticed that they say, these B6's fit all XJS's from 1975-96, so I assume they might be a worthwhile upgrade for non-Sportspack cars...
