Re: Car SOS
Car SOS concept is very good, helping petrol heads relise their dreams that some how slipped away by circumstances, usually ill health. I think that, for me, its pivitol the actual presenters of motoring programs have some kind of general appeal e.g. Ed China, Mike Brewer, Vicky Butler Henderson, Ti...

Interior lights
Hi, does anybody know the location of the delay unit/relay for the interior lights on a 1995 4.0ltr xjs. The interior lights are permanently on, door switches checked, have removed fuse to stop battery going flat. Thanks xjs Dave.

Re: Head liner...
Collected new headliner from Dejan at Dargate, Kent, Headlining World, very good quality and good value for money, fitted very easily and looks a treat. I have spent £775 in the past with other so called headlining specialist with very poor results, seems i've been 3rd time lucky. This liner was sim...

Re: Head liner...
Recently, now owning an XJS, I had the headliner repaired by a professional who made a hash of the job. Previously, I had owned a 308 sports XJ and again used a company, Jaguarheadlings, Ramsgate, Kent to supply a replacement roof lining which on arrival was not good, a few creases by the sun shade ...

Re: AJ16 alternator/temp gauge
Hi All, Switching the Toad Laserkey isolator off turned out to be quite a simple task. On my model which was installed back in 2002, you simply place the fob on the portal, turn the ignition on and then replace the fob for 3 seconds which disconnects the immobiliser from the system indicated by a ra...

Re: AJ16 alternator/temp gauge
I fitted a new alternator, DBC 6819 supplied by South Eastern Auto Electrical Services Ltd £120 + and this seems to have cured the charging problem along with the low reading on the engine temp gauge which is now back to normal. Having fitted 2 new earth straps from the engine to the bodywork, a goo...

Scam attempt
I recently posted under Wanted parts, AJ16 Alternator and received a text then email from a real idiot 'Chet Pohl' who wanted to buy my alternator and requested my bank details. Obviously this fool saw my contact details on the "wanted add" so be aware that scammers are present. Regards XJS Dave.

AJ16 alternator/temp gauge
Hi people, Just thought I'd run this by the club, recently noticed that on my ammeter the alternator seems not to be charging the battery. On putting a meter on the battery there is no increase in voltage when the engine is revved and in fact the battery is slowly discharging over the dormant period...

Re: 1995 4.0 AJ16 XJS Oil pressure sensor
Thanks Paul, very interesting reply, l’m not that bothered about the oil gauge flickering now and again, didn’t know about the transducer and might try justxjs to see if Andy can rob one off an old engine otherwise it’s live and let live. Just finished the 3 stage process of polishing the car with M...

1995 4.0 AJ16 XJS Oil pressure sensor
Hi People, Cheer up, spring is next on the horizon. Having just replaced the fuel injectors which improved the tick over smoothness and starting although I didn't have an issue with starting, now takes half a turn instead of one and a half turns to burst into life. Changing the injectors has made a ...

Re: Pinion oil seal
Hi Paul, No worries, I would add that ASM Classics don't advertise as they have no need to and are usually busy, still give them a try 01474 150380. A mechanic there named Joff sorted my car and is a trustworthy guy. Weather forecast is bad Monday morning. Regards Dave

Re: Pinion oil seal
Hi Nick, Thanks for your reply, I also have used GS in the past for various issues with previous jags that I didn't fancy tackling myself, also purchasing many expensive replacement parts, wheels, rads etc which has all now come to an end. As mentioned before, I suspected that the pinion setting had...

Re: Pinion oil seal
Hi Paul, Got carried away there a bit and missed answering you questions about my XJS, I bought the car back in March from Studio cars of Preston and the date of first registration was 1.8.95. I remember back in those days buyers would wait until 1st Aug or 1st Jan to register their pride and joy so...

Re: Pinion oil seal
Hi Paul, Thanks for the offer of help with the people at Guy Salmon. I sent them a detailed account of events by email which they said they would get back to me, which they have not done yet (1 week), possibly because I requested a refund for the work undertaken, £300 ish. Its not a question of the ...
