I have spark and have not knowingly misplaced a wire on the coil. It's not even firing, there is poppin...

I have managed to fit a split pin to the top of the enrichment device around the plunger pin, this has enabled the device to actually work as its supposed to. I had noticed the plunger was not rising when fired from cold but when held up the car would run, so assumed if I could hold the plunger up I...

XJ Series 1 4.2 cold start
hi,
I just picked up my new purchase, a series 1 Daimler Sovereign today.
My question is do I repair the electric cold start device or go to manual conversion.
And where is best to get the parts for either ?
Thanks
Stu

Drove home today 150 miles, known issues are: Front wheels need balancing, seems to have missing weights and wheel wobble at 70 + carbs need a good service and clean, splutters at 75+ feels like its picking up dirt from float chamber + irractic tickover at times, but not all the time. Needs new cold...

Replying to myself here... oh well. I looked at another today, described as Mint... Had a good paintjob mostly but some cracking on a few doors, no rust though, very solid car with a slightly better interior but by no means Mint. It all seemed ok but been off the road for around 5yrs and no MOT and ...

Ok, as my previous post, I am now looking for a nice series 1 Daimler Sovereign. Looked at one today, was nice bodywise, had great panel gaps, lovely firm door close, clearly had a resto at some point and a respray, not concours but presentable. Interior had seen better days, dash and seats etc a li...

Hi All, I have just rejoined the JEC after many years away from Jaguars, Selling my XJS back in 2001. That was a bad experiance but that's a different story for another day... I owned a few Series 2 cars, even wrote 2 articles for the mag about my restorations, but kids came along and it all ended. ...
