Re: Rear door lock intermittent operation.
“So my question is if a micro switch is faulty on one door would it only affect that door lock.. It seems logical to me at this point but knowing the interconnecting dependability of the systems on our cars I am unsure.” A faulty door microswitch will only affect that door. If it is intermittent now...

That could be the first signs of a failing back up alarm sounder. I say could be as trying to diagnose a noise very the written word is just pure guesswork.

Re: The new E10 fuel
France has been using E10 since 2011 and I haven’t seen any reports of fuel rotting the component parts of their fuel systems. I lived in France at that time and both my XK8 and subsequent X150 both ran on E10 with no problems whatsoever. My current XKR also runs on E10. Too many people willing to b...

Re: Stability Control and ABS warning
Tis largely irrelevant how old the battery is or whether it has been on a maintainer, it still needs to checked. Should the battery prove to be ok then move onto the wheel sensors and reluctor rings.
A code reader will help point you in the right direction should the above not prove fruitful.

Unfortunately, the only way is to remove the bumper. There is no workaround.

Re: Tyre inflation procedure
The procedure you describe for those wheels is correct. BBS 3 piece alloys I think they are. Jimbo, Thanks for the reply. This raises another question - if they are 3 piece rims does this cause problems in fitting new tyres? I'm aware of older Land-Rover wheels known as split - rims where undoing t...

Re: Airbag warning light
The first thing to do is count the flashes when they start, this will give you a code which will point you in the right direction.
Example, 2 flashes, short pause, 2 flashes, longer pause and then repeat gives you a “flash code of 2-2. This flash code will repeat 6 times before the light goes steady.

Re: Battery drain
Andy, did the chirp work prior to the battery failing. The alarm chirp on the XK8 is a programmable feature and can be switched on or off via the OBD port using SSD. If yours has never chirped then it may never have been switched on.
