Hi Ian....the upper splined shaft that goes into the wheel are different sizes.....7/8in on the S1 and 3/4in on the S2..... just with regards to the shaft it would be possible to weld 2 shafts together ..so use the top part of a S1 joined to the bottom of a S2....i am only talking about the upper sp...

On a long stud head where the studs pass through tne water jacket you have to use long studs....early Jags used short studs not through the water jacket....you cannot mix and match

Hi...yes its the taper roller bearings.....the column is simple to dismantle just a tiny circlip to remove at the bottom then it all comes apart.....yes a breakers is a route i could take.....anyone out there dismantled theirs for a refurb and managed to find a supplier..thanks.... Steve

Upper column bearings
Hi All..S2 xj6.. upper steering column has 2 tapered roller bearings....they have a plastic cage which is unusual.....they need replaceing..any one done this.....where can i get the bearings...the usual suppliers dont have them.....thanks...Steve

Managed to find the rubber o rings at Manners....not as the originals that are shaped but aftermarket that are just plain O rings.....springs no longer available so will have to hunt for a similar size.. Steve

Hi All....1971 S1 Xj6 Daimler.....running on twin HD8s.. just refurbing the carbs......between the carb and the manifold is an aluminium spacer with a circular rubber insert to mate the carb to the manifold.....mine are a bit perished can you still get them the ususl suppliers just list a solid spac...

Hi Richard....Steve here...we spoke re the wiper motor....with the age of the carbs they could probabky do with a good clean and overhall...i have just stripped my HD8s....have service kits from burlan but not installed them yet.....if you look at the the jets you will see that they have a rubber sk...

Hi....contact Burlan..they have the parts to convert your current HD8s to manual choke....you need new choke/throttle bodys for the carbs..this will give a proper choke that will pull the jets down to enrich the mixture...cost will be around £350 i think....i havent done it but contacted Burlan a fe...

Just announced on the Kit car facebook page they have recieved a call from the Dept Transport saying they will Not be going ahead with the proposed MOT style emmision requirements for new kit cars....thay had over 2000 replys to the consultation...they realise there is a thriveing special vehicle in...

Hi Richard.....service manuals you can get on ebay for a few pounds....my car was a 1971 and the photo i posted was where my filter and pumps were....Jaguar did move the filter to the engine compartment under the carbs but not sure when....my S1 service manuals shows drawings of both...re fuel all X...
