Re: Fading of convertible hood
Will, I've used the Renovo Blue product on my XJS and it worked well. The key things, as others will tell you, is to scrupulously clean it and brush / vacuum beforehand, mask everything carefully (windows, hood rails, bodywork etc) as drips will run, and have a few brushes. You'll need a 4" one to g...

Re: Facelift XJS door seal parts BEC22268 & BEC22269
Steve, As you've probably found out, much of the online material relating to XJSs comes from the US, unsurprisingly as so many cars were sold there. So you end up seeing and reading about US-spec emission engines. Also the US always refer to the year of cars by Model Year, whereas over here we usual...

Re: Facelift XJS door seal parts BEC22268 & BEC22269
Hi Steve, I understand your frustration at availability of certain parts for XJSs, although it doesn't just extend to facelift models. It's true for nearly all Jaguar models post E-Types, and will probably not improve until / if the cars become worth enough money as collectibles to justify aftermark...

Re: Drive shaft part number
snaefell, I mean the Jaguar Parts Website, always your first port of call when buying parts, even if it's just to get the right part number before going to alternative suppliers. Also, if you're buying genuine parts, I have always managed to buy them cheaper direct from Jaguar rather than through th...

Re: Drive shaft part number
snaefell,
If you look at the parts website, you'll see that there are different part numbers based on VIN range and whether it's a 4.2 Supercharged or not.
Cheers

Re: Availability of oxygen sensors (lambda) - LHE1682AA
XJR_newbie, My AJ16 XJS originally had NTK o2 sensors. I bought replacements through Gendan https://www.gendan.co.uk/category_112.html and when I received them, I found they were NTK items. Maybe worth phoning them and asking them to open the box for your part number and see if it's an NTK item they...

Re: Passenger Quarter Panel Arm rest
Brian,
I've been away for a while so apols that I didn't see this as I could have told you about the armrest screw.
I'd really suggest you mend the door card and reuse the screw attachment as I fear that, even with strong glue, you'll just pull off the armrest with repeated use.
Good luck
Paul

Re: XJS Full body respray
F. Garden / Nick, As you will appreciate, the cost of a full respray will vary significantly based on the amount of preparation, remedial activity and any post-paint fitout is required. As a guideline, why not ring Keith Parrington at https://www.paintingclassiccars.co.uk/ for a chat? Keith was the ...

Re: Windscreen hell! HELP!
Mark, Thanks for the info, that's very interesting, particularly your observations that there are differences in windscreen height for early facelift Convertibles, and in width for Coupes & Convertibles on the late big-bumper cars. My original understanding had been that the facelift Convertible gla...

Re: Window finisher on facelift 1991 coupe
The bodyshell is fundamentally the same as regards windscreen framing etc. The only difference that may justify differing profiles for the windscreen finisher is that the windscreens have a different thickness on Coupes vs Convertibles. I guess this is possibly to do with the fact that the bonded wi...

Re: Axle oil
John, I guess it may be too late if they were doing the work on Friday, but it's really shortsighted to go to the extent of just "topping up" the rear axle, when it would take then hardly much longer to syphon out all the oil and refill it properly, then seal the threads on the filler plug. Good luc...

Re: Recommendation for a Starter Power Pack
Peter, As you will have realised, the development of electronics and the resultant pricepoint has changed enormously over the last 10 years and continues to evolve. Finding the right balance of performance, quality and reliability can be a challenge. I use CTEK MX5S battery conditioners, which aren'...

Mark,
It's good that they'll be available for those who really want them. I suspect at that price point, sadly, a lot of owners may wish (or need) to look at other options.
