Recently back to Jaguar ownership with an X Type 06 estate, I wish to replace the steel bolts etc that hold plastic panel under the engine, some of which are rusting quite badly with Stainless bolts and washers, what size are they??, and how do I measure a metric bolt for the future.

I would recommend that you replace the heater water valve while you are tackling the cooling system - its a common fault usually identified by lack of heat in the car and misting up of the front screen.
