Headlamp Lens Shattered
I had the horrible shock of finding my driver's side headlamp lens was shattered recently. I have not hit anything and my dashcam did not record anything when parked up. I do have a feeling that this may have occurred because I washed off the dust and dirt by spraying with a pressure washer and my t...

Re: Washer Bottle Leak
I am now pleased to say that the main dealer admitted their repair has failed and it is now fixed by changing (You guessed it!) the in line one way valve. So, I hope this helps anyone else out that finds this same problem.

Re: Washer Bottle Leak
Sure is David. I told them so at the main dealer. I get funny looks each time I do. I am not sure why the F type has this setup. I did read somewhere or it might have been a Youtube link that it was to do with balancing the car out! I don't get that at all. As it is not a massive amount of water so ...

Re: Washer Bottle Leak
Thanks Jim and Mike for your replies. The car is going back in on Monday. I think this is a gravity fed issue as this leak is happening while the car is parked up. Assuming that no electrics are live to the sensor to ask the feed pump to supply water. The leak is definitely from the area around the ...

Washer Bottle Leak
Hi All, I treated myself to an F-Type 400 Sport which I collected on 1st March. I truly beautiful and wonderful piece of kit. Around mid April the warning light notified me of low washer fluid. I expect most if not all of you are like me and regularly keep the tank filled up. So, for me I found this...

Re: which to use, petrol or diesel
Latest update. My XK8 went into my local garage yesterday. A diagnostic check found a spark plug was playing up. All 8 have been replaced and fault codes erased. So, my thoughts are that this was not a problem with cheaper supermarket fuel. I will still regularly use Shell. Looking forward to hopefu...

Re: which to use, petrol or diesel
A little update for you. After burning off near to half a tank I then topped up with Shell V power. There has been no change. Still running rough with Restricted Performance. In fact, I now have other warnings showing up. They are Stability failure and the ABS light is now on. I have spoken with my ...

Re: which to use, petrol or diesel
Hi All, I have recently bought a stunning XK8 1998 Convertible. This beauty has only done 3500 miles over an 8 year period. Total miles is 119000. The area I bought from is on the south coast and the previous owner regularly filled up at ASDA. As I had to do the same when collecting I filled up at t...

Re: Headlight problem
Thanks Andy,
All noted, I disconnected the light switch and reconnected with the old one this morning. The symptom disappeared. So, I am not sure if this is still a problem with a dodgy light switch. However, I note your point. Thanks for your reply.

Headlight problem
Hi, I have recently replaced the light switch module on my XJ40 following it passing an MOT but finding the Hazard switch warning light would not flash when hazards were activated. It was not just a case of a blown bulb unfortunately. After the switch was disturbed I found the dipped headlamps came o...

XJ40 Tyre Sizes
I have a 1989 XJ40. The tyres have plenty of tread but on cleaning and applying tyre gel I have noted the front set of Avons have uneven patches on the walls. On closer inspection I have found some crazing (cracking) on the inside wall. I bought this car last year and so have never bought tyres for ...
